Adele's surgery was a micro-laser procedure to treat a benign polyp on her vocal cords, and end the chronic throat hemorrhages she had been enduring. The surgery was performed at Massachusetts General Hospital. The problems that the polyp caused forced Adele to cancel appearances at concerts and award ceremonies. Her "21" album is the top seller in both the United States and Britain this year.

"The operation was a success and I'm just chilling out now until I get the clear from my doctors," the 23 year old singer said, "I must get back to practicing my mime show now."

The surgery is expected to keep her from performing at least through the end of the year.
