Singer Andy Williams Dead at 84
Singer Andy Williams has died at the age of 84 after a two year battle with bladder cancer. Williams was born in Wall Lake Iowa on December 3rd, 1927.
Williams, who started singing in a church choir, at the local Presbyterian church, recorded 18 gold and platinum certified records. He is best known for the Andy Williams Show, which ran from 1962 to 1971 and won three Emmy Awards.
His songs, which received 18 gold album awards, included, Moon River, Days of Wine and Roses (number one for 16 weeks in mid-1963), The Andy Williams Christmas Album, Dear Heart, The Shadow of Your Smile, Love, Andy, Get Together with Andy Williams, and Love Story.
He is the owner of the Moon River Theater in Branson, Missouri.
Williams has three children from a previous marriage with Claudet Longet, Noelle, Christian, and Robert. He was married to the former Debbie Meyer, and shared a home in Branson, Missouri.
Andy Williams will be missed by those that knew him. May he rest in peace.
