Kisses 'n' Condoms

It’s actually a big problem in the Philippines and its very much to do with poverty and naïve-ness of youth. It’s also to do with the cost of finishing high school and the factor that a girl is expected to find work or a husband soonest to help look after a large family or not be a burden to a large family.

Of course adult boys want to experiment with sex and the Catholic Church forbids condoms.

Just imagine being a young girl and your family can not afford to send you to school, you met a hansom lad from a much rich family than your own poverty stricken family. He says he is in love with you and will marry you. Being fooled you have sex with him because he is very demanding and he has promised to marry you. You end up pregnant and the boy moves to a different island and leave you and your family the problems of birth and a mouth to feed.

More and more young girls under eighteen find themselves in a predicament where they need to earn money to buy food for their babies. They can not get a good job as they have not graduated from high school. They try to find small jobs such as washing clothes or employment as a maid of nanny.  However it’s a really hard to find work and also hard to find a good husband as most men in the Philippines want a wife who is a virgin and certainly with out a child sired by another man.

So many of these girls are attracted to prostitution obligated to earn money for their children. Many seek foreigners that are not worried about marrying women with children and many fall further into the trap derogation as sex slaves etc.

Due to this big problem the Philippines has become like many other third world country a destination for those scum bags that seek a sex holiday. These girls charge men a few US dollars for illicit sex so as to feed their babies. To me that seems a shame but its become a way of life to thousands and thousands of young girls and due to poverty its something that will not disappear within a short period of time. However there are laws to protect them but no real social help other than a few charities.

They have no other choice and rely on luck and providence that some kind guy will come along and get them out of the trap. However many men take advantage of the situation especially the foreigners that ply the malls for girls trapped by poverty and circumstances. Most of these girls have had a good Christian upbringing but gullibility and the lack of money has pushed them into the oldest trade on earth. They have been corrupted for life.

But on the bright side I have seen good men take the older girls out of the trap, married them and take them back home to lead a good fulfilled life. These girls make normally make very good wives and the good guy gets a good deal, as she always will try to prepay a debt with love faithfulness and care. Love of course is the only cure and lust is the curse.

I'm not sure about your last part, about a 'good deal' as the girl has to repay a debt; it makes is sound like she's some kind of slave almost, but I don't doubt this is a very common and very tragic circumstance.

Was not meant to be read that way, its the culture of Filipina's to appreciate when helped by a good person and someone that loves them. Its almost as if they feel they can not repay such a debt within a life time.

Women here are very different than western women in respect to a man they tend to go over the top and will not let a man lift a finger, I find it rather annoying sometimes as my partner (not an ex-single parent or from the sex trap) will take over the broom if I start sweeping the floor. I can even wash a cup without being invaded by a female that thinks she can do it better. Yet they want and do get an equal say within a relationship its just there is womens work and mens work.

But when a good woman is taken out of poverty and really cared for and treasured she will alway try to pay back twice as love as she receives its their way. Its nothing to do with slavery its to do with culture. Its took me a long time to persuad my partner that I can do housework as well as some other jobs looked at as being womans work. The fact is the women here want to be the mans slave as such they run the finacial affares and the house completly, culture says its their job.

Many men from the west actually come to the Philippines due to the fact the women here make good house wives and yes just like slaves due to their culture. I myself get annoyed if Ann acts like a slave, she had to meet with my culture and I with her's. I had to get a maid to stop her washing clothes by hand (they don't trust washing machines), my escuse was I needed someone to look after the dog and animals whilst we are away. lol

A man that marries a Filipina normally has a good deal I prefer the love and care I get from Ann much more than I had from an English partner. However I have to pay much more attention as she wants me to share all my interests and me to be involved in her interests as well. She is learning music and to play the Piano so I have to learn while she's learning as well, lol  I paint and so does she. She make jewelery and I have learned how to as well, so on and so on. Fiipina's are wonderful women and to my mind there can be no doubt of that.

Well that makes more sense, thanks for the explanation. It didn't read that way at first, but you're right, I don't know the culture.

you've made a very accurate portrait of the current predicament of our county nowadays.

yes! poverty often brings out the worst out of most individuals, who in pursuing personal freedom from squalor, are forced to trod on the negative side of the road.

We filipinos have been cursed with very very bad political leadership from the top down to the lowliest village system. Thus, the grinding poverty which lead our dear flowers to rot. Traditionally, we view our women and young girls as inspiration, light of every home and regard them as delicate vestals but these days no more. For who can respect a bitch who would spread their legs wide open at the sight of someone with car especially the foreigner sex tourists who heard the current bestialities and whorefulness of many filipina girls and women.

The average Filipino guy therefore has become, to say the least, frustrated and disappointed at the dismal state of affairs.

to hell with chivalry.. I see girls, but i end up seeing filthy sluts..

Thankfully there is that other side and there are many more girls that do hold on to their virtue even some that live in the worst poverty. Some work hard and achieve a good education or at least graduate from high school. All paid out of their own hard work and to me thats a very high achievement. Ann my partner done just that of which I am so proud of her for, I look for her and not via verse and she was very iffy about foreigner's but I won her over. The problem is that many Filipino's think she is a slut because her partner is a foriegner until of course they know the real me and the real Ann.

The government is corrupt and of course as the system is run by cash the more cash and the better the political post achieved. That of course if ones good at fooling people to vote for one.

I can understand the attitude of many young guys here when it comes to foriegners as its the very beautiful silly stupid girls that spread their legs for the big bank account and cars. But in fact most of these girls get hitched with a guy on foriegn social security (paid by his country men public purse). A thousand US dollars per month goes a long way down here and most of these guys are drunks, old and dirty minded beasts that could not get to second base with a girl in their own country.

Yep disapointment I can understand and I feel sorry for the hard working educated guys that only have a 50% chance of achieving good employment in the home land and those that have to leave land and country to earn acceptable salaries.

But chivary is importantant as the built in morality given by good caring parents within the Filipino society where families have attempted to improve the lifes of their off spring. However a man can not be a saint and can only try, we make mistakes when we are young but when we grow older have a family we should never wish our own daughters to follow the wrong path and mess up their lifes.

I come from a different country where culture is different but when it comes to money and very pretty girls many follow the wrong path but its ony a pecentage of the problem seen here and if a girl is made pregnant and has no husband she is looked after by the state thus not falsed into prostitution to feed her self and her child.

Thankfully most girls here are not sluts and they are the ones that one should marry.

how nice of you, thanks for the quick reply and enlightenment. you're one expat who cares a lot for this supposedly island paradise..

It is a paradise but hell is never far away, however I love living here in the Philippines it gives me inspiration for my painting as there are still so many beaches and beautiful places unspoiled by urbanization and tourism. I however can not forget the poverty its never very far away.

I certainly do care about the Philippines its my adopted home Unfortunately I can do very little about the poverty but make people aware by writing about its problems. I have been to Mindanao its very beautiful up in the mountains I found both Christians and Muslims to be wonderful hospitable people and I feel the problem with the terrorist could be solved by allowing more Autonomy to the Muslims its not the people but the leaders thats the problem.

There how ever is no excuse for terrorism, terrorist normal have a greedy objective that overshadows any form of patrotism its always the innocent that suffer the most by their calous actions. In fact from both sides in such conflicts.  Here on Negros we have got the much milder problem the NPA.  I see the main problem being the greed of the elitist greedy policical clans which in fact feeds the fires of the extremist. Unfortunatly I can not see any answers as the elitist are protect themselves against non corrupt people gaining power here in the Philippines. But the latter is the same in most countries in the world. But things could change and hopefully they will in the future.

The citizens of the Philippines deserve much better governance.

It is a very sad story that is repeated in many third world countries.  No young girls deserve to live with those choices!

However on a brighter note, I do know a few Australians who have married Filipino girls and they all seem really happy together here in Australia.

I shared a family meal at one of their homes once when many of their relatives came and visited and the food was amazing!  Filipinos are a very generous, very hospital, loving people and I pray their country gets out of the political mess it's been in for years.

A number of Christian Missionary families I know have been assisting Filipinos with farming assistance, medical supplies and training.  They are making a difference in those inland and island communities.

The food is amazing and it gets on to my table each and every day. I hardly ever eat european cooking now days and I only crave for Fish and Chips and love eating in the Kiwi Lodge in Cebu City when I visit about 3 or 4 times a year. Their Fish and Chips are spot on.

I have seen some of the missionary work here and can confirm it does make a difference to peoples lives especial those that send surgeons to operate on cleft lips and other deformities. Allowing children to have a more beautiful smile.

I would pray with you but I am an atheist, but I can cross my fingers. If you think prayer works please pray hard as there is an election next year.

This sounds very similar to what life was like for working class white women in Britain during the Victorian period. Most had to work in the sex trade to survive and they were exploited by middle class and upper class men who would go and trawl through the east end of London looking for quick sex after a night of drinking. Think about that when you buy a product like Twinnings Tea: all the upper class guys exploiting and ripping off working class women. Not very classy chaps!

Yep that's spot on good comparison

The Philippine High Court convicted WHO (The World Health Organization) of involuntarily sterilizing over 3 million Philippina women through the use of vaccines. (Fact)

I have tried to find the actual court case at  http://sc.judiciary.gov.ph and by searching the internet but only could find a claim by Natural Solutions Foundation of whom seemed to be against immunization of any sort? .

I really hate asking for confirmation and source and like to do my own research on such distressful claims. Sorry could you please supply the Philippine High (Supreme) court case number as I really can not find any legal source to support your claim?

It must remember we can not trust many such claims on the internet with out a valid source that mean we can not present something as fact that maybe is just not true.
