FREMONT, Ohio (AP) - A single-engine plane has crashed in Ohio and killed all six people aboard, including a former state lawmaker.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the plane crashed in a residential neighborhood but no buildings were hit.

Eighty-six-year-old Gene Damschroder Sr. was piloting the Cessna when it crashed Sunday afternoon. His five passengers also died.

Damschroder served in the state House from 1973 to 1983 as a Republican.

State Highway Patrol Lt. Tony Bradshaw says no one on the ground was injured. He says it's too early to tell what caused the crash.

Federal investigators are on their way to the site.
