As the Pakistani security forces reportedly killed six militants in the ongoing operation in the Bajaur tribal region on Tuesday, the last day of the three-day deadline given to the Afghan refugees to leave the troubled area.
Six militants were killed during security forces operation in Bajaur Agency while today is the last day of deadline given to Afghans refugees to leave Mamond tehsil.
According to sources, security forces pounded militants’ hideouts with heavy artillery in Zorband and Nawagai areas of tehsil Khar. Six militants were killed during operation.
Ten key hideouts of militants and one underground bunker were also destroyed during the shelling. Meanwhile, Tuesday is the last day of deadline given to Afghan refugees to leave Mamond tehsil. Mamond tribe announced stern action against those who would not leave the area at the end of deadline.
On the other hand, Bajaur Press Club demanded complete enquiry of killing of a journalist by security forces and protection for journalists working in tribal areas.
Mohmand Agency entry and exit roads are being picketed and heavy contingents of security personnel have been posted at Charsadda areas and Shabqadar in view of the impending operation.
Sources said that the security forces were seen busy in preparing for likely operation in Mohamand Agency and a large number of security personnel have been posted at the entry and exit roads of the Agency at Charsadda. Suspected persons are being frisked and vehicles searched at Shab-e-Qadar and Tangi. Tanks, artillery, mortar guns and other heavy weapons are being carried to Shabqadar for impending operation by security forces.
Unknown persons blew up an under construction police checkpost with explosives in Bannu.
Sources said that unknown persons planted explosives near under construction police checkpost in Ghoriwala area at Dera Ismail Khan Road that went off with a bang and damaged three rooms and a corridor of the checkpost. However, no causality was reported in the blast.
