Hamas provoked this by a year of missile

attacks against Israeli cities.  Leaving

aside who the land belongs to Israel is

responding to attacks on its civilians.

If Hamas did not attack, Israel would not respond.

Hamas cannot seriously harm Israel and as this week

has shown, attacking Israel only brings death and destruction upon Gaza citizens.

Israeli media reports, by usually well-informed correspondents and analysts, alluded yesterday to six months of intelligence-gathering to pinpoint Hamas targets including bases, weapon silos, training camps and the homes of senior officials. The cabinet spent five hours discussing the plan in detail on December 19 and left the timing up to Ehud Olmert, the caretaker prime minister, and his defence minister Ehud Barak. Preparations involved disinformation and deception which kept Israel's media in the dark. According to Ha'aretz, that also lulled Hamas into a sense of false security and allowed the initial aerial onslaught to achieve tactical surprise - and kill many of the 290 victims counted so far.

So muslim fanatics have short-range rockets pointed at Israel?  These guys never ever learn?  Do you think Israel will not provide a little dessert for them?  Maybe now is the occasion to show them the Light of the Son?

Not many people here are interested in the truth. Everyone comfortable in front of their computers sipping some drink and commenting on something they have very little knowledge about but plenty of opinions.

You are right, for most people, but a few do keep up with news and seek the truth.
