Slovak police send 'bomb' to Dublin (Video)
While the world travellers are debating the safety of air travel, the Slovak police sent a 'bomb' to Dublin in misguided exercise. Apparently the Slovak security agents were testing the effectiveness of their airport screening by stashing explosive materials in unsuspecting travellers' luggage. One of the stashes made it through the screening process and travelled to Dublin. The unsuspecting traveller was apprised of the situation when the Dublin constabulary broke down his front door -- three days later!
As part of a training exercise, Slovakian police hid explosives in unsuspecting travellers' luggage at the country's main airport.
They found most of it, but a batch of explosives still managed to end up on a Dublin-bound Danube Wings plane, leading to a police raid and the temporary arrest of an unwitting smuggler.
This fiasco underlines the importance of common sense by humans who are in charge of airport security. All the machinery and technology will not make a difference if the people in charge are willfully stupid.

Yep don't let common sense become so rare, that it's mistaken for genius.

Oh my gosh, they didn't even tell the people they were putting it in their luggage!? That's awful!

Although the explosive was not dangerous without the detonator, it is still kind of scary such "training exercises" are happening without anyone knowing.

See how security at the airport works. The explosives were hidden in luggage and despite screening could not be detected. What modus operandi is likely to be put in place is first bombs then detonators.
