The Smiling Faces of Sociopaths

Drew Peterson's latest media stunt after he was arrested joking about his "spiffy jailhouse outfit" and referred his handcuffs as his "bling" reminded me of how many sociopaths laugh and take light of their serious situations and do so without regard or remorse.  The entire ordeal to them is merely a joke.  They believe they are smarter than everyone else and will beat the system.

You always know what kind of person you are dealing with when you see such famous "fun court faces" during murder trials.

Normal people don't laugh or smile when they are on trial for murder.  I know a NORMAL person would be in hysterics every moment if they were "innocent", as these following psychopaths have alleged.

Check out who made the list and their smiling court room faces:

OJ SIMPSON

A 1995 criminal trial found Simpson "Not Guilty" in the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman;

However, a wrongful death civil trial found Simpson "Guilty" in the murders of Nicole and Ronald.

Simpson is currently in prison in Nevada for a conviction in an armed robbery case in Las Vegas which happened in 2007.

SCOTT PETERSON

 Found guilty and sentenced to death in Californiafor the 2002 murders of wife Laci, and unborn son, Connor.

TED BUNDY

Found Guilty in the murders of two Chi Omega Sorority sisters at Florida State University in Tallahassee, and Kimberly Leach in 1978;

Bundy was also charged, but not tried in other northwestern states such as Washington, Oregon, Utah, and Colorado for approximately 40+  (the actual number is unknown, and Bundy took that information to the grave) murders of women from 1974 through his final capture in Florida, 1978.

Bundy was executed in Florida in 1989.

JOHN WAYNE GACY

Found guilty and sentenced to death in the murders of approximately 33 boys and young men from 1972 to 1978 where police found over 28 bodies buried in lime in the crawl space of his suburban Chicago home.

Gacy was executed in Illinois in 1994.

CHARLES MANSON

Found guilty in conspiracy to commit the murders of actress Sharon Tate and three of her house guests and the following murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in August, 1969.

Manson and four of his followers were found guilty and sentenced to death.

However, in 1972, the death penalty had been repealed by the Supreme Court in the case of California v. Anderson 493 P.2d 880, 6 Cal. 3d 628 (Cal.1972), then reinstated in 1978, commuting their sentences to life in prison.

CASEY ANTHONY

Currently on trial for the murder of her daughter, Caylee Anthony in Florida.

Thank you Michelle!  I was married to a Narcissist for twenty years.  He was also a very functional alcoholic.  These mental problems mesh greatly and the N will behave as a psychopath when the "narcissistic supply" stops.  When it does they kill, steal, disappear, anything to get away from their world caving to the image they had going for them and the people wake up to their game.  A most wonderful, entertaining author about narcissist in language that is so easy to read which can really wake people of to the depth of this problem.

I encourage everyone to look at his site and yours for in my opinion they are everywhere, next door, especially running the country.  They have no feelings whatsover.  Everything is about what they want the world to see.

HERE IS AN EXCERPT FROM VAKNIN'S SITE:

We all heard the terms "psychopath" or "sociopath". These are the old or colloquial names for a patient with the Antisocial Personality Disorder (AsPD). It is hard to distinguish narcissists from psychopaths. The latter may simply be a less inhibited and less grandiose form of the former. Some scholars have suggested the existence of a hybrid "psychopathic narcissist", or "narcissistic psychopath". Indeed, the DSM V Committee is considering to merge these personality disorders.

Still, there are some important nuances setting the two disorders apart:

As opposed to most narcissists, psychopaths are either unable or unwilling to control their impulses or to delay gratification. They use their rage to control people and manipulate them into submission.

Psychopaths, like narcissists, lack empathy but many of them are also sadistic: they take pleasure in inflicting pain on their victims or in deceiving them. They even find it funny!

Psychopaths are far less able to form interpersonal relationships, even the twisted and tragic relationships that are the staple of the narcissist.

    It's hard for normal people to understand that people exist without empathy for others.

    A good question as to whether or not there is some brain damage associated with this.

    Most serial murderers have some degree of brain damage combined with some severe emotional disturbance in their youth.

    Nice summary of some awfully freightening folks -- and your collection of photos with each of them smiling adds to the eeriness.  Thanks -- I think.

    I had one cross my path, and it sure scared me. Sure we all have some people we don't like, but a sociopath is really scary and can do a lot of damage. They have no voice of reason, and are non negotiable.

    Your article has merit and the point may be valid- but I would also argue that the ability to make light of one's situation when you are utterly doomed, is the utmost of sane displays.
