Smiling subway stickup artist sought
Smile! A surveillance camera caught a smiling bandit and his accomplice, who police say, robbed a woman on a subway train in Fordham. Another man is being sought for a stickup on a Pelham Parkway train.
At around 4:10 p.m. on October 23rd, a 23-year-old woman was robbed inside a D Train. Cops say the thieves were standing on the subway platform outside the train on Fordham Road. The men reached into the subway car, grabbed the woman’s property and fled on foot. Unfortunately for this pair of would-be great train robbers, a surveillance camera caught their images. Cops are asking for the public’s help in trying to catch these robbers.
In another subway stickup, a man held up a Number 5 train rider with a knife. At around noon on October 16, cops say a man approached his 19-year-old victim on the southbound Number 5 train at Pelham Parkway Station. The robber displayed a knife and robbed the man of his property. He then fled on foot. Unfortunately for him, cops say a surveillance camera near the turnstiles captured his image.
Investigators have released the surveillance stills from both robberies in the hopes the public will recognize the suspects and help police catch them.
