Bandung, W Java (ANTARA News) - The late former President Soeharto`s step brother Probosutedjo sentenced to four years in jail for involvement in the misappropriation of Rp 100 billion in industrial forest estate rehabilitation fund will be released from Sukamiskin penitentiary in Bandung on Wednesday (March 12).

His release was announced by Penitentiary Security Division Chief of the West Java Justice and Human Rights Representative Office Sukotjo here on Tuesday.

According to him, Probosutedjo deserved a release as he has served two-thirds of his jail sentence, and met the administrative requirements.

With the conditional release, Probosutedjo is still placed under the prosecution office`s tight supervision.

"If during the probational period Probosutedjo committed a crime, he will have to serve the rest of jail sentence," he said.

"Possibly, Mr Probo will be freed on Wednesday. But we don`t know for sure at what time," he said.(*) end
