SOI SAVE OUR INTERNET! - Democrats Letting Net Neutrality Die?

Well, here is more Obama change. 
The Democrats stated their position as being for Network Neutrality. Essentially that meant letting Major Media represented by cable and TV, dictate how our the internet will evolve.  Instead of letting TV and Cable Die the death they should as the internet evolves and gains more and more functionality, Obama and the Democrats are going to let Major media put a choke hold on the internet. 

The Republicans, previously against Net Neutrality, are now contemplating reversing course to use this a core issue with voters in the future. Here is a snippet of what they are saying:

"The Internet is the greatest platform for cultural, educational, business, and technological innovation ever created, primarily b/c every potential participant faces the same low barriers to entry. Hence, ideas are quickly tested, and the good ones gain traction and grow. This also enables the 'long tail' of niche ideas to thrive.

If you allow telecoms the control they seek, they will (have already promised to) raise artificial barriers to entry that distort the emergent processes of the internet in favor of larger, more deep-pocketed, more established players. Their initial plans to charge more for video data are a relatively minor distortion, but the trend is clear. They would, over decades, turn a vibrant forum of ideas and media into another  top-down-controlled, dumbed-down, useless boob tube."

To Rebuild : Republicans Should Embrace Net Neutrality and the Internet as Public Good

The cable companies already admit putting upper limit caps on internet speed to prevent people from dumping cable and going for internet content.

Soon we will have taxes on the internet and Major Media will find other ways to force fees upon us to access content.

Whether you voted for  or against Obama and the Democrats, this is a incredible betrayal. And don't think for a minute, there is not some motivation to curtail the free speech that spawned the Tea Party Movement.

If you do not want the way the internet functions to change drastically, I suggest you educate your self by reading the article and then your start calling your Federal Senators and Congressmen.
