SONA

Manila, Philipines: All are now set and ready for the State of the Nation address of President Gloria Arroyo.

Classes Suspended:

The Department of Education’s regional director for Metro Manila, Teresita Domalanta, announced Saturday that classes in the national capital region were to be suspended.

“In view of the expected heavy traffic on Monday resulting from the coinciding major events of the SONA and the grand celebration of the INC (Iglesia ni Cristo) anniversary, classes at all public and private pre-school, elementary and high schools in NCR will be suspended on Monday, July 27,” Domalanta said. The Commission on Higher Education announced earlier that it too was suspending classes at the college level in Metro Manila.

Security Officers:

The military yesterday declared that they are on red alert in Metro Manila in preparation for the Presidents SONA. Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Gen. Victor Ibrado and National Capital Region Command Maj. Gen. Leo Joggy Fojas led the assemble of troops yesterday morning at the AFP parade grounds in Camp Aguinaldo. The NCRCOM has likewise mobilized a dozen armored personnel carriers (APCs) to go into military action if the need arises. While most of the troops will remain inside military camps, a number will be deployed in so-called hotspots like the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City and other rally sites.

Protesters:

protesters will be pouring in Commonwealth Ave. in Quezon City to join the day-long demonstration against President Arroyo's last SONA.At 9 a.m, Bayan will roll out a giant effigy of Mrs. Arroyo mounted on a bulldozer with the words "Gloria Forever" and "Charter change." Huge number of people are expected to join the mass action in Commonwealth Ave. and thousands more are expected in protest actions in other parts of the country.

Iglesia ni Cristo anniversary

The Iglesia ni Cristo, or Church of Christ, will hold its grand anniversary celebration Monday, marking the 95th year since the church was founded in the Philippines. Malacañang declared July 27 as a national working holiday pursuant to Republic Act 9645, enacted June 12, which decreed observance of the church's foundation day as a national holiday.Congregations worldwide will hold annual thanksgiving services, and grand religious assemblies in 19 large venues will be held around the world.

Police released an advisory on the traffic rerouting within the vicinity and areas leading to the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila and the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City, for the Iglesia ni Cristo’s 95th anniversary celebration

The Iglesia ni Cristo was founded by  Felix  Manalo, the first executive minister of the church, preached in the Philippine capital of Manila. Its first local congregation was established in Punta Santa. Ana. On July 27, 1914, the church was registered with the Philippine government.

What is Iglesia ni Cristo anniversary to do with the State of the Nation address of President Gloria Arroyo?

Are they running the country?

INC's doctrine say that Jesus Christ is never God. If you are a Caholic, would you care to celebrate with them? These policticians (who are Catholics) who proposed and pushed this day to be a holiday may be clueless about this organization's basic doctrine. It therefore becomes evident that these politicos have ulterior motives for this kind of religious endorsement -  the 2010 elections. They do not care if their chosen beliefs clash with each other.
