SOTN: What India thinks of working women
women should dress properly ,to escape rape? wow, kudos to the people who think so, what low level, cheap and irrational thinking this is. no wonder India is still a third world country. how can one progress when minds have not grown.
i totally disagree with people who r stating that women's way of dressing instigates the man to commit such heinous crime called RAPE. if the girl is well covered from top to bottom so now if the man just gets lusty by looking at her lips or eyes or maybe her hair and rapes her then.
rape is not an option and has not reasons, or excuse, to back it up. women should be respected and that is what it is.
the only remedy is as soon as the culprit is found should be brought to trial and hanged if found guilty.then men wont even feel lusty even if they see a half naked woman when they know next thing is going to be a noose around their neck.and stop blaming women for everything that happens to them
SOTN: What India thinks of working women
New Delhi: On January 1, 2008 India woke up to images of two women being assaulted by a mob of 80 men as they stepped out of a five star hotel in Mumbai. Most Indians argued they weren't properly dressed.
According to an exclusive CNN-IBN-Hindustan Times survey, eight out of 10 Indians feel that rape and sexual harassment are linked to the way women dress. Infact it's the changing role of women in society that's making men aggressive. Around 80 per cent say that's the reason for increased violence against women.
And late nights still generate fear in most minds. Almost 69 per cent men feel uncomfortable if their wives or sisters work till late in office.
Actress Bipasha Basu may be an image of women empowerment in the film Corporate but six out of 10 men feel uncomfortable working with bold, aggressive women. When asked who would they prefer as a boss, most say they are fine with either men or women.
Interestingly, more than 50 per cent of those interviewed said working women do not neglect their family duties.
But close to 90 per cent feel that women are misusing rape and dowry laws to target men.

Damn straight !! Rapists should be hung, of course only after they have been drawn and quartered. Canada, in particular British Columbia, in fact Vancouver, Surrey and Richmond have convicted repeat rapists walking our streets and living in half way houses. Why, perhaps ask the justice system in British Columbia. Left Wing Ideals where criminals can always get a second, third, fourth chance to walk out streets to do it again and again.

I don't think lust can just 'disappear' with the thought of being hanged, well not with some people who are weak. Yet maybe it will work for the majority. When men are drunk, for example, they are out of it, anything could happen, they couldn't care less out the consequences.
What do they say, that some men think through their 'loins' than with their brain.

These men have a problem with self-control, not helped by loads of easy access to porn being readily available and women participating in them, lured by money.
However, I don't think you can deny that there is a link between what women wear and being attacked. It immediately draws negative attention and lust. You can see this by what they say to you for a start.
The thing is, as a woman, it is obvious, that you can't walk down at night alone in a tight short skirt, cleavage, high boots etc and not draw 'negative attention', sometimes crowds of yobs. Dressing down at night is par for the course if you have to walk at night if you want to survive. In the old days, we had chaperones, but now we can go on our own, which can be risky sometimes.
I can't walk down my country lane in a skirt even in the afternoon in the South of England without male attention, which is why I now wear trousers and change later. They think it is complimentary but it is scary. Wearing trousers makes a huge difference. I relax more on my walk instead of feeling that someone is going to stop their car and attack me. When I wore a skirt at work, it was a nightmare, so now I wear trousers and it's fine, although a little boring for the men. I also try to make sure I wear shoes I can run in, on walk, and change later. We just get too much hassle. Roll on old age!
It would be interesting to hear what the psychologists etc think.

If a man commits rape then i feel he has some deep rooted psychological problem, maybe attached to his own experiances as a child. Possibly with sexual abuse or severe lack of dicapline so as to render him void of limitations.
For some men it is pure power that they crave, some have a deep seeted hatred of woman, for whatever reason and realise the best way to degrade a woman is through rape.
Whatever the reasons they need to be addressed, and it is without doubt that womans clothing and attitude plays a part. I am in no way saying that a woman invites rape through her attire but let us think here for a moment, can she expect to go out vertually naked and not recieve unwanted attention, no way, What message is she sending to men, it is basically, Hey, over here, look at what I have, even if she does not in any way think that is what she is doing or trying to do. If she is covered she is giving a message that she does not want attention.
After all if you see two woman one is vertually naked and full of bravado and the other covered and minding her own business as a man who would you think would give you attention and in turn spark your own?
