It was reported that an 11th grade male student, 16, at Carolina Forest High School in Myrtle Beach, S.C., was fatally shot by a resource office Friday during an altercation inside the school. The student allegedly stabbed the resource office, who responded with gunfire.
Both victims were taken to Conway Medical Center, where the student was confirmed dead. The resource office is in good condition.
Carolina Forest High was put in lockdown mode after the shooting incident took place. School officials confirmed that the school is under control.
Friday's incident marks the second time in three years a Carolina Forest High School student has been killed in a violent incident on the school's campus. In June 2006, 18-year-old Natalia Holmes was stabbed 15 times by her estranged boyfriend in the school's parking lot.
