The South Carolina primary is the second primary of Election 2012, and it takes place on January 21. Polls are mostly open at 8am ET and close at 7pm ET. Find your polling place here. Absentee ballots must be turned in by 7pm.

Republican Candidates: South Carolina Primary 2012
The Republican Primary candidates, in order of average poll position as determined by RCP:
- Mitt Romney
- Newt Gingrich
- Ron Paul
- Rick Santorum
The South Carolina State Election Commission has not updated its candidates page to reflect those who have dropped out of the race. This plays into Stephen Colbert's hands; his super PAC would have you vote for Herman Cain.
Mitt Romney, based on his overall poll standings, is very likely to win the South Carolina primary. Newt Gingrich is really hoping that the story that he asked his first wife, Marianne Ginther, for an open marriage while having an affair with his mistress Callista, who is now his wife.
This was going on while Newt Gingrich was leading the Bill Clinton impeachment drive, so this is pertinent to his campaign, despite Gingrich's protestations. We'd expect the litany of ethics charges brought against him to have been more prominent in media coverage, though.
