According to the Sourth Korean Spy agency,  NIS, North Korea's military leader Kim Jong Il has designated his youngest son Kim Jung-Un as his successor.NIS was in turn quoting some Chinese sources.

“Kim Jong Un will be formally nominated as successor after the elections,", the Chinese sources reportedly told the news agency.

Reports say that Kim Jung-Un is the son born to leader's third wife who died in2004.Jong Un, and his brother Jong Chul, 28, were born to Koh Young Hee, a Japanese-Korean dancer.

Reports also says that the Army generals promised allegiance to the bloodline of the the late leader Kim.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il designated his youngest son as successor just after Pyongyang's claim last week of a nuclear test, sources told Yonhap.

The son, identified as Jong-un, is in his mid 20s and is the youngest of the leader's three sons, the news agency said. Information about his designation was given to an intelligence committee of South Korean lawmakers by the country's intelligence agency, Yonhap said.

There had been speculation the 67-year-old Kim would soon name his son as a successor, the report said.

Thanks for this background info.  This family rivals the Munsters.

Thanks, Barbara. Have no idea what a Munster is. Wikipedia is of great help..!

The Munsters is a 1960s American television sitcom depicting the home life of a family of monsters.

It is bit strange that only publicly available image of the new leader is a police style sketch.

Telegraph UK has stitched together a family tree of the Kim family here.

The profile of the new leader is this

– Kim Jong-un. At 26 he is the youngest son of North Korea's dictator. He studied English, French and German at the International School of Berne in Switzerland. He is reportedly a fan of NBA basketball and enjoys skiing. His father's former Japanese sushi chef says he looks and acts just like his father. He is the younger son of former dancer Ko Yong Hi, who reportedly died of cancer in 2004.

Why do we care about a 67yr old child who has one foot in the grave anyway? Every time I look at him I laugh, because it reminds me of how he was portrayed in the movie "Team America - World Police" by the guys from South Park....hilarious. Then sanctions that are already in place are and have been crippling the country anyway, yet he still continues to sabre rattle. Didnt China just cut oil and natural gas off to them recently? If they werent afraid, the people of North Korea should revolt and take their country back from this idiot.

Personally, I think he's just trying to provoke a reason to go to war by trying to get someone other than him to take the first shot, thus eliminating world condemnation of being the aggressor. Or, maybe he really is just batsh*t crazy and is going to invade South Korea anyway...who can tell with his erratic behavior. Doesnt he remember the old cold war policy of Mutually Assured Destruction? Throwing nukes around will make that place unliveable for the next several thousand years due to radiation...I guess he's forgotten that part too..not the kind of legacy you really want to have or leave to your children.
