This is the best shot I could take the last Saturday of the Space Shuttle Discovery in the Pad 39A. That day, I took the regular bus to the Observation Gantry in the L-39C ( Launch Complex ), having the idea to have a nice view of it. This is a tour included on the regular admission to the KSC.
The story here was that I took these pictures not very convinced of that point of view. I had booked a NASA up close tour for the next day, on Sunday , so for sure I would have a good opportunity later. Besides, it was 3 miles from the platform and I thought the next tour could be closest to the orbiter.
The next day, on Sunday, just during my tour the rain was unbelievable. We couldn't stop anywhere to take any picture and was almost impossible take a picture thru the bus window.
At the end of the tour, I went to Customer Service asking about any solution to take that ride again ( the tour takes two hours and 30 minutes! ) They were so nice, and they gave me new tickets for free. I have to recognize they did a good effort to help me out , usually those tours are sold out quickly. That was the first reason I could'n take it on Saturday.
I can't believe I was 5 hours on that bus + 3 hour seated later driving back to Miami!
Now I have to return the launch day. on October 23rd, 2007. 11:48 am.
