Titanic loss to tourism

How long will Europe be grounded by Icelandic volcano dust? Based on the table produced by scientists, Europe could be in the dark for six months to a year. Can you imagine no air traffic for that long?

George Steinbrenner had better get back into the shipping business. This could be a Titanic loss for tourism. Seriously.

β€œIt is much more difficult to predict the end of an eruption than to predict its beginning. The table below gives the length of time that volcanoes erupt.

Explosive eruptions end when sufficient decompression is attained to cause magma chamber collapse and restoration of the initial pressure conditions.”

This is an example of understatement. Anyone talking about the impending economic disaster in these terms?

I think you are correct about the economic disaster of this volcano eruption. And the link above can also lead you to live webcams they have installed near it.

Thanks for that link and info.

Yup, this is a real disaster and if the nearby volcano erupts as it usually does, things are going to get worse.

They are estimating that the airlines are losing 200 million dollars a day as it stands now.

However, the one good thing I heard is that it's going to lower the temperature of the earth and that can temporarily stop the warming of the planet.

I guess every volcanic cloud has a silver lining.....

This is going to continue to be news worthy for some time to come.

Aside from the international economics of this, there are people stranded all over the place that can't get home, and are running out of money, in Europe alone people are struggling to get across the channel, ferries are turning away pople, as are the Eurostar trains, I feel very sorry for those stuck with children in these circumstances.
