The very mention of Harry Houdini symbolizes astonishing feats of escapism, magic and his crusade in exposing deceptive methods used by the Spiritualists. No other magician or person has ever surpassed his feats. It is where later in his life when his mother passed away that he began this fascination with the possibility of spirits being actually real phenomena. Using mediums as gateways in communicating their desires for the living was a very lucrative business. In the early 20th century Mediums, Spiritualists, and Se'ances where springing up all across America and Europe. It was during this period that Houdini became the first true skeptic about the validity of the spirit medium world. Much of his last years were directly focused upon exposing the fraud that managed to penetrate and perpetuate the Spiritualists and Medium businesses. His book "A Magician Among The Spirits" was published featuring the ways and means that detailed how Medium practitioners did actually fool the public. This book also proved that these spiritualists failed to produce any authentic evidence of life beyond the grave, any ghostly appariaitions, or mysterious levitations.

In one such demonstration that proved the Spiritualists were indeed using fraudulent practices Houdini demonstrated how trick photography could produce the illusion that spirits due exist. Contrary to what Sir Arthur Conan Doyle believed that the realm of the dead does exist through spirits and does have a profound effect on the living. Doyle also believed that Houdini was indeed capable of producing spiritual effects in his magic. This clash of ideologies had a lasting strain on their friendship. Both refused to compromise on their ideologies ending in a falling out of friendship between two influential people of the early 20th century. Neither case has been substantiated and remains inconclusive to whether or not paranormal activity actually exists to this day.

To believe in Christianity is to accept the fact that spirits have been with us from the beginning. "Angels" Spirits have always had an intriguing and mystical portrayal throughout history. It is this belief that has transcended through time that carries the hope for the salvation of man. It is also believed that most of us come into this world through an act of love through God and when we pass on our spirit rises to atone for our sins and leaves our legacy behind of what each one of us has done with our lives while on Earth.

Throughout history in the Christian Religion spirits have a direct purpose for the living. So far man's ability to comprehend the true nature of spirit and paranormal activity has eluded all humanity. Will it be our destiny to one day have the ability to actually communicate with the spirit of one who passed? What purpose will those spirits have for the living? Points to ponder! Houdini spent the last years of his life exposing Spiritualists and Medium's as fakes and frauds while trying to figure a way to contact the souls of those who had passed on. Even his own passing his spirit has yet to reveal itself. There are those who believe that one day this spirit and others will appear before the living and finally prove that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was indeed correct in his assumption that spirits do exist. For unexplained reasons mankind isn't ready or capable to authenticate any paranormal activity or communicate with any spirit.

It just may be mankind is not ready emotionally or mentally to understand the true purpose of spirits and any paranormal activity. Could it be we face a foreboding sense and a presence when we are close to someone who has passed? Or is it our own real anxiety when we are faced with certain imminent passing that causes man to rationale their existence? In either instance the realm of spirits really do have a purpose. May be one day mankind will be able to fully understand the meaning behind those teaching that have been handed down throughout history depicting Angles and spirits and be successful in understanding the paranormal activity or any spirit that tries to communicate with the living.
