ToDay is Sri Lankan National Day.

"The nation expects a new future, and a future of change. A future where the unpleasant experiences that we jointly faced in the recent past are not repeated. It is time to stop the refrain that we "cannot" and we "don't have. The remnants and leftovers of subjugation should be erased from our minds", His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa said at the 61st Independence Anniversary Celebrations held at the Galle Face, Colombo

1. Sri Lankans prepare for glory-61st National Day 4th February.

2. “Deyata Kirula” Exhibition will be held 4th to 8th February at BMICH.

3. Nations Salute for Sacrificed Soldiers.

4. Countdown Start LTTE-210 Sq Km left.

5. Colombo Security tightened.

6. Will national flag raise in Puthukkudiyiruppu & Chalai.

We Sri Lankan today have come to a significant phase of time. All Sri Lankan are dreaming about a Freedom. Throughout last 30 years we had to face lot of setbacks and debacle because of this ruthless LTTE terrorism. Today every thing has changed and the South Asian longest running war is going to end forever. Also the World most dangerous terrorist Organization LTTE is going to wipe out from the Earth.

Sri Lanka has gained independent from British in 1948.Since then Sri Lanka has come along a significant Journey. But the smooth journey has stagnant in 1983 when LTTE has declared a separate land and struggle with Government troops. Since then all Sri Lankan despite race, religion and cast has to suffered lot. But this year it will be over.

Sri Lanka is celebrating its 61st Independence Day anniversary 4th of February 2009.
Independence Day ceremonies will be held at Galle Face in Colombo under the supervision and presence of His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksha. The military parades will feature the Armed Forces with the Air Force putting on a spectacular air shot. The Navy, Police and school children will also participate at the occasion. The Maha Sangha, and other religious leaders with Ministers and other Government officials will participate at the grant ceremony. Heads of the Armed Forces and foreign diplomats will also be present. These day’s rehearsals are conducting Galle Face Green Colombo. Securities are tightned in the area and bring thousands of Policemen and Armed Forces to Colombo Capital.

Sri Lankan troops are now very close to LTTE sea Tigers camp at Chalai and last Village Puthukkudiyiruppu.Most probably those villages will fall on National Day(4th February).
Last year 4th February, series of explosions carried out by LTTE Island wide to disturb the independent ceremony and destabilize the country.Fort Rail way station,Buttala and Welioya were the locations killing atleast 40 civilions.

Hence this time there is possibility such a bomb blasts and VIP attacks.LTTE planes are still not captured & threat is there. Public vigilant can prevent such an attacks. Last year even government has to block SMS few hours as a security measure.

Meanwhile to commemorate the National Day Government of Sri Lanka has taken steps, to hold the third 'Deyata Kirula' exhibition at the BMICH from February, 4 to 8 under the theme of "Eka Mawakage Daru Kela". It will be held 9 am to 12 midnight everyday.
'Deyata Kirula' has four categories with the first day been named as security day, the second day as cultural day, the third day as welfare day and the fourth day has been named as media day.

You will describe LTTE as terrorists but your government is behaving like a barbaric group ! People in the north are killed by thousand and are affraid day by day because of your bombshells and soldies ... but ... you will say as usual that LTTE are the real source of problem.

Please ignore the stupidity of the previous blogger. It is true the governement is acting in strong offence to end the war, and it is costing unnecessary innocent lives, which is very sad. In addition the govenrment is also attacking anyone who takes a netural or objective view on the matter, which is also disgusting.

The fact of the matter is, yes we can change, we all should! Change was the campaign which helped Obama win, and we should take an example. Change for the better, change our views on other races and religions and change to live in a peaceful Sri Lanka together.

Please if you can, please somehow get those innocent civillians out of the conflict zone, into the safe zone, I know the government is not to be trusted, but in those safe zones, there are NGO's like the red cross and UN to help the civillians. So I beg of you please if you can, if you have contact with the LTTE please tell them that. We do care, what we dont care about what race or religion you are, you were, are and always be our brother our countryman!

Apart of this.. you see.. everywhere in the world the Tamils are making problems.. Have you been to Singapore recently..? The next EELAM will be in Singapore... All roads, All public places are ruined by Tamils in Singapore... In Streets of Bombey, India they shit on the streets... I have seen in my eyes.. Do you need this to be happen in your country ?

When Sri Lankan's building massive Temples by Rocks with carvings, yo Europians were savegers, who lived in caves. Sri Lanka may be a small island, but it has more unique things, where, Invaders suppressed those. To name just two;

[1]. The First Lighting Conductor in the world was build in "Ruwanweli Seya" Temple, a 1000 years ago, where europians "Re-invented" the same.

[2]. The most good herbel plant for "Diabetics" is "Kotala Himbutu", was first found in Sri Lanka. And Americans taken it and patent in USA. Now we can not export or manufacture anythings from that plant, eventhough its unique to our land, because we have to get the licence approval from USA for our own plant...!!!

Who killed my uncle and the rest of the Sinhalese innocently travelling in a bus, who didn't even have a pin as a weapon on them? Do you want to know what happened... I'm sure you don't but I'll tell you: each passenger was forced to get out of the bus, and everybody who took that last step off the bus was shot in the head by the LTTE.

Who planted the landmine in the middle of the highway that killed my aunties and many others up in the north when they were travelling in a public bus?

The truth is... LTTE carries out its terrorist activities not only against the Sri Lankan forces... their attrocities are committed against Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims 'and' the international community.

What is Independance????? Freedom for all! All citizens immaterial of race & religion. It is time we live in peace & harmony not point fingers at each other. Hay Charms.. Come on... Come to reality.. We know there's a over 2500 years written history from Buddha's era... Did there was "No-War" time during these 2500 years..? Do you think there won't be any war for another 2500 years ? No.

There were always war. What it need is a balance among war & pease..! American's were rebels one time and waged a war against British and got their freedom and then called themselves as "United States" and later they invaded Vietnam and Eraq. And recently beated by "Al-Quida".. You see its a balance.!

We need to wipe out terrorism from our Island of paradise for sure, but not at the expense of it's citizens. What is the root cause for the war?, which started 51 years ago in 1958. What is the point in treating the wound at the surface when the roots are still active? The infection will set in again and the sore will errupt. Who are Srilankans? Which country are they decendents from? Please go back into hsitory and put the jigsaw into place. What we need right now is healthy, weathy and wise citizens to build our nation for a better tomorrow....................................

We need more people to think like this. When the whole world is fighting to become economically active, we are fighting over real estate. Is this what we really should be doing. Lets get out of this sillyness, and come together to form ideas as to how to move foward in the world, instead of going backwards.

Looks I don't need to make any comments. Great story and great comments. People in this country suffered most because of this LTTE. weather they are Sinhalese, Muslims or Tamils, They all lost there homes, love ones and there lifestyles due this cause. We all should be proud today that we can celebrate our indipendence under one Flag , One Country and as Sri Lankans as we did when we get the freedom from British. Keep it ip Pals.
