Sri lankan Troops of the 58 Division after hours of fierce fighting that ensued with LTTE have reached the Visuamdu junction, this afternoon January 28th 2009. This was a strategically Important Village situated along the A35 Road.LTTE resistances were rattled during the multi-frontal military assault, ground sources said adding that scores of terrorists were killed and many injured during the fighting.
Meanwhile Military Spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said that about 13000 LTTE killed since July 2006 and 3700 Army Soldiers also died in the Wanni Battle.
The head of an LTTE front organisation in Britain has been charged for conspiring to supply military equipment to the LTTE terrorists in Sri Lanka, Wednesday (Jan 28).
Arunachalam Chrishanthakumar, 52, a "very prominent figure" in the Tamil community in the UK, co-ordinated the acquisition of material and funds for the benefit of the LTTE, British news sources reported.
