Sri Lanka - Democracy to be restored in North - Rajapakshe
As the Eelam is reduced to the size of an airport and more and more civilians are making their escape to freedom, LTTEs are having their inevitable extinction stare in their faces. In this situation Sri Lankan President Rajapakshe expressed confidence that Democracy will be restored in the northern region soon.
In wide ranging discussions with 12 Tamil Parties on Thursday that lasted around three hours, Mr. Rajapaksa assured the leaders that he will consult with the security forces on whether local government elections can be held at the earliest in Wanni.
"I will assure you that the democratic rights of all the minorities of the North will be restored soon," the President told all minority political parties present while emphasising that if the LTTE is sincere about the welfare of the trapped Tamils in its territories, it should allow them free access to move to government-held areas.
Hours before the meeting, the Pro-LTTE Tamil National Alliance (TNA) had announced to boycott the meeting.
"The government will have to halt all military operations in Wanni before we agree for a meeting with the Sri Lankan President," TNA Parliamentary leader R Sambanthan had told reporters.
Asked if the LTTE was involved in the killing of Tamil IDPs, Sambanthan said his party will not condone it if the Tiger rebels had resorted to such an act.

Why not?
Under Journalists killing, Free media banning, Tamil men/women torturing, Tamil women raping, Human rights violating Mahinda & Gotabaya Rajapakse brothers' government, democracy will flourish to indefinite proportions. As a matter of fact, the UN needs to be in Sri Lanka to monitor these "refreshing" developments.

"Sri Lanka: Jaffna University Lecturer abducted in Colombo"
This thing is taken from websites running for the LTTEs, by the LTTEs and of the LTTEs. So the "news" is supposed to contain buzzwords like "genocide" and "terrorist government" and "tamil pride" etc.
This is as a matter of fact, ofcourse.

the matter of fact is your opinion.
Tamils sources do bring out Tamils news, but they don't bring in false or racist news as your defense.lk does using Taxpayers'(including Tamils) money so shamelessly.
If you don't want Tamils to have their news resources, the Sri Lankan Government has banned all free media in Sri Lanka, and true journalists are either killed or abducted in Sri Lanka, only defense.lk racist propaganda machine can operate in Sri Lanka to produce news, How do you expect Tamils to get their news to the world?
Allow free media in Sri Lanka. Allow UN monitoring in Sri Lanka. Why I don't see you campaign for these since you are a true journalism loving human being?!!

"....Allow free media in Sri Lanka. Allow UN monitoring in Sri Lanka. Why I don't see you campaign for these since....."
That is the idea, then.
You want media of your convenience in areas freed from LTTE. You want " monitoring ". That is the first thing comes to your mind, not medicine and food for the people who are affected. All you want to do is to get your media there so that the people shot / killed / bombed / smoked by LTTE can be "showcased " to the world in the false name of Sinhala terrorism. Seeing this inhuman acts other shocked countries will interfere.
In that way your Pirabaharan and his "core" team of terrorists can escape to safety
That is your first priority. Not Medicine to the injured tamils held hostage by LTTE.
That is your only priority. Not the life of the children brutally killed by LTTE weapons.
Why don't YOU think about these innocent people first? If you are a human being at all?

Because no one really knows what exactly is going on up there! And no one trusts either the SLA or the LTTE news reports since they are both biassed. Yes, of course Prabakharan must be captured. But that job is different from the job of the so called Sri Lankan media people. And we know from past experience that the government cannot be trusted to tell the truth! If independent media people were up there, we would have a clearer idea of the scale of humanitarian suffering going on there. At present no one will give clear information on this.
