UAV footage of civilians fleeing LTTE areas-20_04_2009

Breaking Video Footage :

Sri Lanka Defence authorities have released the Unmanned Arial Vehicle (UAV) footage of this morning's rescue mission where more than 30,000 Tamil civilians were rescued by the SL Forces.

Contrary to the claims of the pro-LTTE Tamil Diaspora and the LTTE loudwriters, Sri Lankan Security forces, rescued more than 30,000 Tamil hostages from the LTTE terrorists this morning(April 20).

The world can feast its eyes on one of the most historic moments of the whole humankind as this is touted the biggest hostage rescue mission ever.

I watched the video in its entirety.

I can see only people running. It does looks like the Wanni "safety zone".

However, I can not see what they are running towards to or what they are running from.

Could you please let me know what information I should have been able to gather from the footage? ... may be I am missing something here. Thank you.

I can hardly understand Sinhala.

Since the whole world is watching this, it might be better to let in foreign journalists to report on this rather than relying on state-sponsored Rubawahini station. That is just a basic courtesy to the international community.

These Tamils civilians are being escorted to the concentration camps like "refugee camps".

The fate only goes downhill for these people. Now that the Sri Lankan Army has direct access to these Tamils civilians, the atrocities of regular rapes, torture and killings will happen in silence.

If the Sri Lankan government is willing to provide a long-term solution for Tamils, it should consider an internationa community moniotred referundum for these people.

At the leaset, the government should freely allow foreign agencies and journalists go to the refugee camps.

The Sri Lankan Army should stay away from these refugee camps. An international aid agency or monitoring group should facilitate these refugee camps. The barbed wire and sri lankan army outside only affirms that these refugee camps are turned into torture and rape chambers for these civilians, as the government has already done it in Kilinochi, a captured area in the north.

"I can hardly understand Sinhala."

That does not make any difference.

"Since the whole world is watching this, it might be better to let in foreign journalists to report on this rather than relying on state-sponsored Rubawahini station. That is just a basic courtesy to the international community."

Once the clean up of LTTE terrorists is over , any number of foreign media will be allowed. Sri Lankans are known for their hospitality. After all there used to happen a lot of tourism related activities because LTTE started this bloody war.

These Tamils civilians are being escorted to the concentration camps like "refugee camps".

No proof. So it is a lie.

People who are authorized to take a decision  will take decision on that.

"At the leaset, the government should freely allow foreign agencies and journalists go to the refugee camps."

Sure, in a few more days. Otherwise what will happe if the terrorists kill one of the journalists?

The last part is a lie. For the other requests, people who are authorized  to take a decision  will take decision on that.

So... take the journalists to the refugee camps or to the fully Sri Lankan Army controlled North - Jaffna & Kilinochi or to East - Baticola to show them around how the post-war is working out for Tamils?

What is the hesitance ?

Journalists have been reporting from way worse battlefields. There is no reason for the Sri Lankan Government to cry false tears over the security of the journalists.

The international community understand the fake cry of Sri Lanka, and treats Sri Lanka as a country holds its own citizens hostage. That's why the"respect" is given now to clean up the act or face to the internatioanl sanctions.

What we can see here is a one moment of tamil peoples pain with LTTE. If LTTE is real fighters they should have been leave innocent people to go and fight as real fighters. Here it clearly shown how LTTE is beating to there own innocent people.

Why war monger Prabakaran step in to battle front and fight. There are many video footage's of this event on you tube. Any one can see how hard those people walking towards to Gov controlled area.

Yes every one of them have to check for suicide bombe kits. And mark the identity. For sure there are hidden LTTE carders slipping in with this people. Have to identified and send to rehabilitation.

This is classic book lesson to the whole world that terrorism should not be tolerated and must be pin down by there own tactics. That's why SL Forces dash in the LTTE defenses at the middle of the night because its only LTTE carders are in there. And civil people are not open areas in the middle of the night.

Sri Lanka does not have hi tec like USA,UK Israel, But they did the best to show the truth using there technology. this was widely shown in national and international Medias. If still anybody tells that, these people stayed in Nofure zone to support the LTTE looks those who said this are not in any sense.

Good post Sudharaka. At least now these LTTE supportrs now should come to elp these people rather shooting them and all the NGO'S & INGO's who were shouiting early should now do there real job as not like early.
