In a clear sign of growing North-South commerce 28 lorry loads of northern produce, including two freezer truck loads of famed crabs and prawns were dispatched to Colombo from there early this week.

Jaffna Government Agent K. Ganesh revealed last night that because of the growing demand they have now decided to keep the road open for private goods convoys every other day compared to every ten days earlier.

As the A-9 was opened to north-south private trade from last week the first convoy of 34 trucks that went to Jaffna from South on their return journey has brought back a wide variety of goods including fish, palmyrah products, red onions, tobacco, green chillies and even 31000 empty bottles, according to the GA.

With the arrival of fresh goods from the South by road at close intervals, the prices of many items like fruits are said to be coming down in Jaffna and the lifting of restrictions on fishing too is said to be having a beneficial effect on the price of fish there.
Meanwhile, the government wanting to resettle IDPs in their former places of residence within 180 days, has ordered the army to expedite the de-mining activities and it has also informed GAs of Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi to be ready to resume their functions at any time.

I think you should read the article in full before commenting in a blind rage.

You can send some of your Sour Grapes to both North and South.

"Is the government just planning to suck up every possible..."

Yes. To suck up the remaining terrorists, yeah - by every possible way. Any different opinion?

Wow, the Tamils in North & East have multiply increased priced foods, while the food they produce or catch are being shipped off to the South to enjoy by the Rajapaksa government?!!

When is the Sri Lankan government planning to send something to the North, like the basic necessities of food, fuel and other ?!! OR ...

Is the government just planning to suck up every possible resource out from the North and East Tamil regions to be enjoyed by the Sinhalese in the South ?!! Leaving the Tamils to deprive of even their own produce.

At times I wonder if it's just plain clay inside the heads of some LTTE mouth pieces?

Well, Sri Lankan government has turned the whole Vanni into a graveyard. There are some living dead in Jaffna. Better finish them all, such their bloods and tell the world that the Land belongs to the Sinhalese and rest can fall into the deep sea .As long as the ignorance and foolishness of the rulers dictate the policies of the Sri Lankan government, this country will continue to remain as a hell. Sri Lankan army is using this website as their platform for their false propaganda. World is not going to believe in this lies any more.
