NP Rank:
sri lanka from paradise to hell
I support the Tamils in Sri Lanka!
That doesn't mean I am a terrorist, which is often used as a cheap excuse to avoid "difficult" answers from the sinhalese and their government!
I SAY BOYCOTT SRI LANKAN PRODUCTS
AND SPORTS LIKE CRICKET AND FORCE THE SRI LANKAN GOVERNMENT TO FREE ALL THE TAMIL CIVILIANS IMMEDIATELY FROM THE CONCENTRATIONCAMPS WHERE THEY ARE BEING DETAINED, RAPED, ABUSED, KILLED, TORTURED WITHOUT WITNESSES, RAJAPAKSA TOOK GOOD CARE OF THAT!
defense minister Gotabhaya rajapaksa and army chief Sarath Fonseka will be charged for genocide warcrimes and ethnic cleansing of tamils, no doubt about that as we saw that already happen to milosovich for example. they are trying to wash away evidence before they are forced to allow independent investigations.
THERE IS ALSO A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EXTREMISTS AND GOOD LANKAN BUDDHISTS AND MANY SINHALESE HAVE TO FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES FROM THS GOVERNMENT TOO, THEY TOO KNOW ABOUT MAHASON BRIGADES AND THEIR WHITE VAN ABDUCTIONS, THAT IS NOT ONLY COMMON TO TAMIL CIVILIANS!
There are now alarming reports about raping and killing tamil women by channel4 who earlier mentioned about sinhalese military cruelties and abuses while they had aid workers who witnessed this interviewed on tape. This was broadcasted on channel4 and is now widespread all over the internet!
I also notice that there are a lot of sinhalese (paid by colombo censorists) here on NowPublic who spam filth and lies on decend articles here, you are noticed and we will give you a descent reply!
release all civilians, allow independent investigations, give free media access to the tamil men, women, children and even babies in your "welfare" camps and respect human rights!
but what the world sees instead is Rajapaksa organizing "victory"parties and military parades over the backs of 145.000 killed Eelam Tamils.
I think the only peaceful solution is a separate state for the Tamils.
61 long years of sinhalese state terrorism proof that, especially what happened during vesak 2009 and the SLA massacres afterwards!
Those warcriminals responsible for this years killings of 20.000 civilians will be noticed by me as long as they walk free, they can not depend on a lot but they can count on that!

Lets keep it clean..
We would like to help. Its not that we will "vanish from this offer", unfortunately, we will be vanished if we take this offer.
What happened to the Mercy Mission? despite accepting no ill-intention after checking, the Sri Lankan government had turned the ship.

Another joker came out from some where else even not in Sri Lanka and telling the same strory about the Tamils. Question is all these were kept there mouth shuts when LTTE keeps them as a Human sheild and now when they are try to give a life agian these vultures try to sell there life.
Keep telling your lies as it is and if you are so concerned about these people why dont you come here and join as a volantery guy to help these people in Camps. I bet you will vanish from this offer. Because non of you all even did not donate a water bottle for these people. Please assist them when the time need you all to them rather going round again back to the stone age,.
You may have a anger with Sinhalese but sad to say presently we dont have people caleed Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslimes or any other minority. We have only Sri Lankans. So dont try to bring and insults Sri Lankans. As they were the first to send there love and assist o these innocent people before others come. Still they do what you all does?
Tell me onething you have done to these people. Before you

Lalith,
Thank you for your offer. I would actually take it.
First, could you get approval for the following things:
On my side I will give you in writing that I will be at best possible human behavior. No violence, no weapon, etc.
at 21:59 on June 15th, 2009
That is good of you to be so generous as to show people around. I may take you up on that offer, since a Japanese mission and JICA are suppose to come to Sri Lanka, The UN and the Red Cross have been trying to send help as well for some time now.
I suppose they are terrorist sympathizer. We did raise money here to help Sri Lanka and its government to help the Civilian victims of this war.
Maybe we should send the money to Afghanistan in stead since we are all terrorist sympathizer for voicing our concerns.

Hi Paschen:
I am getting confused over the "Code of Conduct" in Nowpublic.com
No personal attack on members is good.
But, this is a news site free to discuss any topic right? What is wrong in calling a corrupted set of people corrupted ?!! How naive and nice do you want the members to be in this horrendous world of genocides, political dramas, killings and corruption?!!
Many Sri Lankan government supporters call Tamil Eelam as Dumeel eelam in his/her comments everywhere to insult Tamils aspiration to live freely in Sri Lanka. I never seen a single moderator or NP editor warn him/her regarding that.
Many Sri Lankan government supporters call Prabaharan as Sun God in many of their comments to insult Tamils' aspiration to live freely in Sri Lanka. I never seen a single moderator or NP editor warn him/her regarding that or even ask for the meaning of it.
However, the Sri Lankan government is using the Tamil IDPs as pawns to earn money and aid from Tamil diaspora and Countries, and the Sri Lankan government officials are corrupted otherwise an IDP would not have to pay 2 to 5 lakhs to leave the IDP camps.

Yes. The rejection of mercy mission ship exposed the cruel intention of sri lankan government. I came to know that ship is now going to kolkatta and those food & medicine will be wasted... thats the respect sri lanka gives to Tamils and how someone can expect the rights for tamil from them !!!

Better still, to Cameroon.
You have a long way to go.Paschen. You, being a national of three countries (or, four), comment on Sri Lanka as if you were born here. You commented on Buddhism on another post as if you were the authority on Buddhism.
My offer is open to the Tamil brethren. You can come through JICA and I will still make arrangements to take you around. I don't think you can influence the Japanese Govt. to do or not to do things. Or maybe you can, judging from the way you write.
I don't consider you a terrorist, but a person who is using his status as an editor of NP to show all that you know all, when in reality you don't.
Because of your arrogance, I think NP lost many a good contributor, which ever side they may have contributed to.
You should have used your position to act as a moderator. Check out people like Amy Judd. Learn from them.
It is not that I have time to contribute to NP. I found time for it.
I think I'd better use that time for something else rather than debating with biased, ignorant editors like you.

After reading this thread there seems to be a disturbing trend starting up on NP, which is detrimental to discussion, disrespectful and is creating an atmosphere of aggression andhostility.
I am not going to single anyone out here, but it seems that when a member makes a comment here that is perhaps not agreed with -- or is different from what people want to read -- then that member is insulted and ridiculed
This needs to stop.
I don't profess to be an expert on what is happening in Sri Lanka in any way, I often don't comment on Sri Lanka stories because I don't know enough about the subject matter, but unless someone makes a comment that is against our code of conduct, then I don't understand why that comment can't be added to the discussion and be an opportunity to talk more about Sri Lanka and to eductae those of us that don't know much about it.
I would love to learn more about what is happening in the country, but I can no longer come to these comment threads to see such hate and aggression; it's not fair and it's not good for the community at NowPublic.
I'm asking everyone here to be respectful of our code of conduct one last time and please know that if this trend continues, although I hate suspending member accounts for a short while, it can be the only way to get a member's attention sometimes.
Please let's not let it come to that.
NowPublic is a place for discussion, the sharing of news and ideas, and 'meeting' people from all over the world who may have viewpoints that you don't agree with, but we ask you to respect them.
There's enough fighting and hate in the world as it is, we don't need any more on our site.

Humanitarian or not, nobody can try to enter a sovereign country without prior permission and as and when they want.
What about the SLMM guy who was leading the mission? Do you know the list of items that were in the ship?
You collect money to buy arms for the LTTE and still the terrorist supporters do so, we don't know for what. And on the other hand you send stuff supposed to be humanitarian items.
Once the ship returns, just sell the stuff in Southall and give the money to the LTTE.
I'm sure the Govt of Sri Lanka can manage without your propagandist plan.
If YOU want to come to Sri Lanka, you can be my guest. I will take you around and you can go back to your luxury whenever you want. If you are still paranoid about your safety, I will personally guarantee it.

I do not wish to influence any one, what so ever. Nor can I. I do appreciate your opinion here, however, I do believe you to be wrong on all accounts.
My sole interest is that all humans are treated equally and fair, to warrant that, transparency is needed and being open to critics as well as monitoring by the UN and the International Press.
I worked for NGO's in a couple of cases and trained some NGO workers. I do not claim to know what is going on in Sri Lanka how could I? All press and NGO's as well as the UN are being blocked out.
Would it be any other country, would you not think that it is odd that the Press and the UN are being shut out and that all International observers trying to shed some light are refused entry is not in the least an indicator that some thing is terribly wrong?
On my experience, I would say, where there is smoke, there usually is fire to be fund as well. Off course we could all be wrong and worry for nothing, but how do we know that? The only way to know is through neutral International observer and the Free Press.
This would be the same for what happened in Gaza, and now with the Iranian elections.
Thank you for the insults by the way.
at 01:52 on June 16th, 2009
You are welcome!
You can take way it any way you want.
However, I think it is better for me to follow some others who have left contributing to NP and gone their on their own ways.
NP was not my bread and butter. I just enjoyed being there. Most of the debates I have had with senthil, Tamiya, B12N, sivakaran were healthy. We tried to prove our points and am sure they did all this with no malice towards the contributors. All the above contributors came with points, to some I agreed to and also disagreed with a majority of comments. But, I don't think any of those people wrote with malice or hatred towards me and I have no hatred towards them. We tried to prove each others points.
But, at the end, I think it is not worth it. Hiranya, openly dropped out of NP. Her contributions were educational. But, people decided to fight with her. This was not necessary.
Wish you the best on NP.

It is an interesting Opinion Post, however, there is propaganda and some intimidation tactics coming from both sides.
In war the victor always makes him self look as an angel and the vanquished as a monster this to justify the war an the killings. putting all responsibility on the other side.
This works for a wile, however with time the truth start to come out and show that neither side where right nor did either work in the interest of peace of the civilian populations that ended up paying the ultimate price for the conflict.
It would have been easy to avoid this particular conflict 30 years ago already, had both side seek justice and compromise rather then escalation and hate.

I know Lalith, These guys truly have no intension to help or care for these people. Now come with the ship turning stuff. Well if we study closely these all items were came with one of the departed monitoring mission fellow which causess great losses to the GOSL in past.Government of Sri Lanka cant take a nother chance.
Well your case, U r most welcome to come and work here. Yet its up to u how 100% r u for these people.

It's so beautiful to see all these people who are making a hue and cry about Sri Lanka are living abroad in luxury. We see a tamilnet connection here too.
Still guilty that they could not save their sun God.
My deepest sympathies.

Amy,
Thank you for your interest in finding out what is happening in Sri Lanka. As you have probably heard that the "truth is the first casualty of war".
As long as we can bring the truth out we would be half way there in achieving the peace we all want to see.

Sri Lanka never been a paradise to Tamils.
Tamils only lived freely until the colonial powers came to Sri Lanka in their own free state - The Tamil Eelam.
Sri Lanka had many chances to patch things with Tamils, even now the Sri Lankan government could do so many things to honor the rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka. However, by pure arrogant of the Sinhalese thugs mentality, the Sri Lankan government is proudly preaching that the "Sri Lankan island belongs to Sinhalese only.", and many Sri Lankan government hardline supporters are here white washing the lies and human rights violations of their government.
Many are so eager to dig up dirt on LTTE, or event make up dirt on LTTE, even after the current reality of defeat of LTTE, while whitewashing the decisions of the Sri Lankan goverment to keep an ethnic group in indefinite detention, while denying basic necessities to these Tamils and still failing to protect these Tamils basic rights even within the internment camps from the infamous Sri Lankan Army.
A decent human being would be ashamed to support such a government.

Paschen, I suggest you stick to your role as an editor and be unbaised in your comments. However, if you wish to contribute like we do, and I can see that itches you, I reccomend that you lay off that title as EDITOR as it does not help NP.
at 16:18 on June 16th, 2009
It might be hard, but please get used to media freedom.
We have to rely on the 'unverified' news provided by the human right groups, international media and etc. If they are misleading the community, please ask your government to allow media so we can obtain some verified news.
If you are to suggest that we rely on news provided by Sri Lankan government, think why that might not be acceptable to others.
btw, you are more than welcome to dispute "unverified' news.
