Sri Lanka rejects LTTE offer to enter democratic process
May 25, 2009 07:25 am
Sri Lanka’s defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has rejected the LTTE’s offer to enter a democratic process after their military defeat by government forces.
In an interview with the BBC, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said the LTTE rebels could not be trusted to give up “terrorism”.
“I do not believe the LTTE can enter a democratic process after years of their violent activities,” Mr Rajapaksa said.
The rebels had said they would give up violence after their leader was killed in recent fighting in the north-east.
“I am not interested in LTTE at all,” the defence secretary - the most senior civilian official in charge of the war against the Tamil Tigers - told the BBC in a wide-ranging telephone interview.
He said there were “enough democratic Tamil political parties in the country” to represent the Tamil minority.
This attempt of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam trying to enter the democratic process in Sri Lanka was predicted. If they really want to enter the Democratic Process, they could easily do so through the Tamil United Liberation Front which is a long standing political party in the North, or any other party of their choosing.
It will be difficult for Tamils in the North to vote for a Tiger when there are so many good and respected politicians who are for the Tamils in the area. It will also be difficult for the Tigers to say once again that they are for the Tamil people. Prabhakaran said this once and not only let them down but used them as protection for him, when he was losing the war.
It is also strange to see how a gun runner who had two red notices against him at Interpol and is wanted by India for crimes concerning explosives and gun running is trying to get into a democratic process of the country. What is aim? To be the President of a separate state in Sri Lanka?
The Sri Lanka Government eliminated the most ruthless terrorist in the world and his gang. IF Prabhakaran managed to achieve his dream, then he would have been, Prabhakaran the Terrorist - President and Prime Minister of Eelam. Now the tigers by trying to enter democratic process of Sri Lanka, the Tamils in Sri Lanka must be wondering what really is going on.
It will be interesting to note the designs of the now thoroughly beaten LTTE. Perhaps, a second dream - K.Pathmanathan the Gun Runner, President of Eelam?
Mr Rajapaksa also said the work of government forces was not yet over as they had to recover weapons hidden by the LTTE in the northern and eastern regions. “Some people think that the army’s task is over... it is not. The entire area has to be de-mined and then we have to look for any remnants of the LTTE hiding in the jungles,” Mr Rajapaksa said. He has also appealed to Western nations to dismantle the LTTE’s overseas network and hand over their local leaders, who he said were trying to purchase arms and ammunition for the group.

Many a time, many a Sri Lankan government made many an effort to integrate the (late) LTTE in to the political fabric of the country.
It is quite ironic that that they lingered till their much touted military might was crushed, to offer the proverbial olive branch.
By delaying their decision, they put 100's of 1000's of lives at peril.

Still, the terrorist supporters, while being in foreign countries shout about Tamils in Sri Lanka. They donated lavishly to the LTTE. Do you think these people even tried to contact their relatives in Sri Lanka to see what was going on?
They can find their own Eelam in the countries they now live in.

No.
Those vermins who funded the (late) LTTE were never interested in the welfare of their brethren. If at all they cared, now is time opprtune for them to come and redeem themselves, at least to a certain extent.

Meaning?
at 23:02 on May 25th, 2009
Simple.
Singhala Lions reduced the Tigers to Lambs. But there is a minority of Singhala wolves who still cry for the Lambs.......

Ah, OK!
Sinhala Lions reduced the Tigers to ash. Not lamb.
So, let me know who this Sinhala minority is. It will be good to know. Perhaps, we should expose them.
It is interesting to note though, a question asked from makka (unverified) is answered by alocious (unverified). Great team work my brothers.

Some of them are there right here, in NP. Writing about important issues like "how to pronounce Michale Obama's dog's name" and "how many times Madonna brush her teeth in a month".
At times take a potshot or two at Sri Lanka too.

Do I keep my fingers crossed?
Will they at least learn that 1 + 1 is 2 and not 20 or 200 or ...?
