Sri Lanka rejects UN satellite imagery

Sri Lankan authorities, on Saturday have challenged the interpretation of the UNITAR satellite images, the craters appear on which, some LTTE terrorist proxies claimed, were caused due to SL Security Forces shelling the area.
Quite sensibly, a Sri Lankan defense official has also pointed out how such crater could be created by the LTTE, by detonating a large quantity of high explosives.
In their usual demeanor, LTTE terrorist proxies paraded the news of these images as if it were the find of the century.
Colombo (PTI) Sri Lanka on Saturday rejected satellite imagery of bomb craters by the UN in support of allegations that security forces shelled a civilian area, saying those were created by the LTTE.
The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Operational Satellite Applications Programme had yesterday released satellite evidence stating craters had been created in the No-Fire-Zone which was interpreted by some as shelling by security forces in the no conflict zone.
In response, a Sri Lankan defense official explained that even if these satellite images suggested craters, it would have been created by the high amount of bomb explosives detonated by the LTTE.

This satellite photograph does not show any live explosions on the ground.
Satellite photograph interpretors can determine the type of weapon or explosive device/s used by analyzing the:
1. The size of the crater.
2. The type of ground.
3. The shape of the crater.
The craters caused by Artillery shells leave a rather oval shaped or oblong crater due to its flight trajectory.
The craters in the satellite picture seem to be round and not oblong.
Although the satellite pics shows us a date, nobody can determine when the craters were formed. The only way this can be determined is by checking how often the satellite goes over the same area, per day, week or month.

Sri Lanka might've not claimed the images to be fake, but they do claim them to be false and the craters to be fabricated. If you cannot see that senthil is simply implying this when he says the images are fake...then you should keep your head out of political discussions....make a good point unlike the terrorist Sri Lankan government who has brainwashed people like you.
