Story of the Victims, coming from their own mouths, reported by the BBC. Some sections of the so-called "international Community" keep refusing to listen to anything that the Sri Lankan people have got to say. Yet, one by one, these stories will keep coming out...

If you have common sense, you can analyze the situation and come to your own conclusions. If the problem is between the Sinhala people and the Tamil people, then what have these innocent Muslim people done to deserve this?

Who are the people who are happy and relieved about the end of the War and the end of the LTTE more than anything? Who are the people who are unhappy about the end of the LTTE? and Why?

Elections in Sri Lanka are hoped to reunite areas in the north of the island that have not seen elections in 25 years. But for one rural village, the scars of the 30-year civil war will not be easily overcome. Correspondent Andrew Hosken reports from the small fishing village of Palliyathidal - the scene of the greatest single massacre suffered by any community during the war.

"General political climate in Sri Lanka never has been reasonable to Tamils in the last 61 years. Tamils demands for equal access to education and jobs were openly denied under the name of Sinhala only code. That was then. 60 years have passed by. Tamils decided to claim their independent state back after 30 years of oppression, in 1977 in a political voice. Regardless, the oppression got worse and Tamil rebel forces were born"

This is the truth. What another unbiased, sincere NP member had to say. http://www.nowpublic.com/world/sri-lanka-free-civilians-camps-human-rights-watch-urges

So please understand Hiranya, it is the handful of Muslims (especially those fishermen in Palliyathidal) who really control 2 Mn odd Sinhalese plus the past governments for 60 years. Those Muslims deserve to be suitably punished.

Tamils are unhappy about the way the war was conducted by both parties. International inquiries are required investigate the killings of over 30,000 Tamils deaths in the war, and the perpetrators should be punished in ICC.

The current silent war of the Sri Lankan government on over 280,000 Tamils IDPs should be brought to an end immediately and their lives should be re-build in the areas where they have lived.

The Sri Lankan government should allow media freedom and aid agencies access into the war torn Tamil regions to rebuild the lives of Tamils.

The Sri Lankan government should allow international monitoring into the election process in the Tamil regions so that the voice of the oppressed Tamil community could be heard loud and clear.

The current atrocities of the paramilitary group known as Karuna group should be arrested and punished for rather than being rewarded with Minister post and election advantages.

The Sri Lankan government has thrown victory parties in the South for Sinhalese while arresting the Tamils into detention camps. Pretending to "liberate" Tamils from "terrorism" did not stick long enough in the act.

The Sri Lankan government should start behave like a decent government instead of a spoiled brat in the friendship of China. Consequences of cold shouldering the west due to China's friendship will be unmistakable.

Then they lived happily thereafter.....

In those detention camps uncle? Was this exactly what happened when JVP arms-struggle was defeated in 1977 & 1989?  Were all Singhalees were kept in concentration camps and were "screened"?And all JVP members were excuted and all civilians were unharmed?Just think and act uncle please, for Country Sake.

"Tamils are unhappy about the way the war was conducted by both parties. "

But Tamils are very very happy who that LTTE terrorists are lost  the "war" and achieved nirvana.

Arun Shan

Yes "Ayiram Thalai Chinthamani - with no brain".Tamils are really happy in those camps? and really really happy as noone was hurt. Do you believe all these "Humanitarian Mission" Stories? If this was true, for logic, who should have been celebrating all these? How many people were celebrating when JVP was defeated? and where were you in 1983?I bet Tamils were happier then :)

"...Karuna group should be arrested and punished for rather than being rewarded...."

I fully agree with you, Tamiya. They should at least face trial for the past crimes they have committed.

But, take a hypothetical scenario. Had Karuna and his group stuck to LTTE throughout and somehow escaped the death whilst VP and others died, would you still consider them as; "to-be arrested and punished"  material ?

Are you prescribing "arrest and punishment" for Karuna's (and his group) deeds or his shift in sides ??

Your views on this is much appreciated, please.

killings of over 30,000 Tamils deaths in the war, and the perpetrators should be punished in ICC.

Allready happend and all of them are punished. Terrorist VP, Sun Goat, as the main key person got killed from sldf.

Sorry, have I missed something here?

There was no hearing, and no justice has been brought to anybody directly harmed by this war.

All what happening are "catagorically denials" - why don't let Independant Inquiry into all these allegations?

Manik

Those who financed and endorsed cowardly killings of innocent unsuspecting civilians (viz school children, farmers, bus / train commuters, pilgrims, clergy etc etc in the south; who were not even in war zones but simply going about with their lives) over the period of 30 years, should be traced and punished severely by the ICC for having funded such crimes then, and for trying to deceive the world with crocodile tears and false humaneness now.

Delhi’s Indo-Sri Lankan policies in a disastrous log jam of its own creation.

The Sinhalese as ‘fantastic practitioners of diplomacy..have(ing) an edge over (India)’ ( Bhadrakumar ‘Blood in our hands’ Rediiff.com 19 May) created a disastrous log jam for Delhi’s thanks to the connivance of the South Block mandarins in the Delhi bureaucracy. They manipulated their political masters towards policies reflecting their private anti-Tamil prejudices yet causing irreparable damage to India’s strategic interests. This in essence sumarises Delhi’s policies to end the Tamil resistance and the disastrous log jam for Delhi

Bhadrakumar mournfully attributes Delhi’s log jam to Delhi’s loss of political leverage over Colombo..in the post-LTTE era (‘Sri Lanka: Rajapakse’s Final Resolution..’ Mainstreamweekly.net). The over appeasing Delhi mandarins freed Colombo of the LTTE factor to embolden SL into dangerously gamble using the China factor as leverage to counter Indian regional ambitions. Delhi is earnest on working with the international (US) community to compensate for the loss of the LTTE leverage. Though the Tamil issue is inconsequential in post-LTTE era, ‘(India) will continue to make noises about ..a political solution to the Tamil problem’ (as)..our leaders..suggest(ing) publicly’ the provisions in the 1987 Indo-SL Accord. SL that enjoyed the benefits of India partnering it to free SL of the LTTE compulsions sees no further gains from the India’s Accord formula. Instead according to Bhadrakumar the solution Rajapakse envisages a ‘systemic colonization by the Sinhalese of the Tamil homelands north of the Elephant Pass’...’  to cause an exodus of Tamils to India as a matter of state policy’. What a grateful SL payback; its export of the Tamil problem to TN/India clearly signals that India’s Accord inputs for the Tamil problem are no longer relevant. Delhi that repeatedly assured TN that the 1987 Accord provisions will be delivered in full (and SL agreeing then) and TN reciprocating to ensure UPA’s return to power is politically embarrassed SL rebuffing Delhi’s pleas. Thus Delhi earns a reputation for repeatedly betraying TN. The conniving South Block mandarins silently rejoice over SL tiring out Delhi by dragging out on the Accord delivery to mischievously further estranges Delhi-Chennai relations.

The silence of the Delhi South Block mandarins when thousands of Tamils (civilians) in the India blessed ‘no fire zones’ were massacred and others taken prisoners of war for interning in humiliating Nazi style concentration camps dangerously damages Delhi’s moral standing encouraging SL to administer further massive snubs to Delhi. SL ignored Delhi’s pleas to allow the Vanangaman relief supplies to reach the desperate camp victims and not rot in the Colombo harbor. The South block mandarins turning a blind eye on similar developments presented Delhi as a fait accompli China gaining a strategic foothold/base in SL to counter India’s regional ambitions. SL allowing China a militarily significant foothold (Hambantota) in India’s soft under belly is ominous enough for India now to seek after international (US) support to counter the China factor. Hence a growing perception that the over bending pacification/support of the Delhi mandarins emboldened SL to embark on provoking a big power play at the expense of Delhi regionally.  SL had in the past used this style of diplomacy and extracted far reaching benefits beginning with India taking back nearly a million up country Tamils under the1964 and 1975 agreements. SL frantic military buildup in the entire North coastline facing the Tamil Nadu under the guise of preventing a resurgent (a non-existent) LTTE type threat makes a mockery of the diplomacy of the Delhi mandarins. SL’s haste in setting up observation posts to militarise Katchativu that is closest to TN is cause for real concern. Delhi hereafter has another border to closely watch China’s intentions. Thanks to the blundering inadequacies of the Delhi mandarins’ diplomacy China has moved closest so far to the door step of the relatively safe Indian underbelly. The Sinhalese and China achieved these strategically significant and ominous goals behind the backs of the Delhi South Block mandarins who still flaunt the bona fides of working closely with their friendly Colombo counterparts.

The author’s praise of the Sinhalese as ‘highly sophisticated practitioners of diplomacy’ also confirms the blunderings of the dated South Block diplomats who bartered away the leverage they had (the LTTE) at great costs to buy more pain.  Now an assertive and aggressive SL focused on promoting an exodus of Tamils to India as a matter of state policy to de-stabilize TN/India is positively an unfriendly act against India. Will SL stop at this or piggy-back on China to become a major player like Israel in the Middle East?

Whining, wailing and blaming the whole world for the disaster some of the tamils brought upon themselves. What Sri Lankans tamils do is their own internal problem only. India has nothing to do with that. If some extremist tamils in tamilnadu think that the tamil bond itself justify India to interfere in some other sovereign country's internal matter, then you are wrong.  If the LTTE terrorists got massacred, then they deserved it in every sense.

I, being an Indian suggest all LTTE supporters from Tamilnadu or wherever they are from to go and fight the Sri Lankan army instead of wasting your time here. If you think that because of tamil connection India should interfere with Sri Lanka's internal affair, then in the same breath you can justify countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh supporting islamic extremism in and around India also.

Be honestly speaking,

There wouldn't have been any problem if India wasn't training our brothers, calling "Genocide" - by Indra Ghandi, sending Indian Army & killing our children and women, and selling all arms and militart-technology to Srilanka under "self defence".

Still we believe & see India as our Big Brother, Perhaps we see India through Tamil Nadu and we should not.

P.S: How did India helped Bangaldesh and South Africa?
