G. Vickram - TNS

PTK: The Sri Lankan security forces (SF) opened up barrages after barrages of multi barrel shells into the Thevipuram, Vallipunam and Chuthanthirapuram as the Sri Lankan Security Forces (SF) was coordinated the attacks on the internally displaced civilians in Mulaitivu 'Safe Zone' which was announced by the government.

According to the initial report 25 civilians were dead and 77 Injured. Eyewitnesses told TNS the accounts of the carnage indescribable as vehicles are burning, dead bodies of civilians are scattered all over the place, injured civilians are bleeding to their deaths, every one screaming for their lives and people are running here and there without knowing what to do, situation so pathetic, according to an activist in the area.

Since, January 26th over 1000 were killed and over 3000 injured when SF continuously shells fired on the so called 'Safe Zone'. Thousands of artillery shells have been fired into the safety zone in what was described as the most inhumane genocidal attacks on civilian population.

SF which wants to see Tamil civilians to surrender, by bringing them to their extreme limits, has caused the carnage. There is nobody available to help the

wounded, according to the initial reports from the medical sources.

The LTTE must release the tamil civilans, using them as a human shield is completely unacceptable.
