SUNFO Congratulated His Excellency The President and Armed Forces and urged United Nations to assist the Government of Sri Lanka to rebuild the livelihood and infrastructure of war victims.

"The President, Prof.Lakshman Madurasinghe, Director General, Peace Ambassador. Dr.Deshapriya Wijetunge  and Directors of Sri Lanka-United Nations Friendship Organization (SUNFO) congratulate the brave leadership given by His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksha to eliminate LTTE and liberate people and the land held by the ruthless terrorists ,ending the 30 years of war in Sri Lanka. Further we salute Defence Secretary Mr.Gotabaya  Rajapaksha Service Commanders, staff and the brave solders  of all Armed Forces/Police who shouldered the responsibility of fighting with the LTTE. This victory was gained not only by fighting with LTTE in Sri Lanka but also strategically managing all International pressures to stop fighting emanating  from powerful quarters of the western  world .

Now we call on the  United Nations, People and Governments of other nations, all International Bodies and SUNFO members worldwide  to provide unconditional support to the government of Sri Lanka to rebuild the nation and build the lives of all war victims specially survivors of Wanni Humanitarian operation, disabled solders, families of war heroes and all others concerned. We believe that President Mahinda Rajapaksha will lead and overcome this challenge within a short period of time  by winning the hearts and minds of all Sri Lankans belonging to various ethnic groups such as Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, Burgers etc.

SUNFO  appeals to all people of Sri Lanka to rally round the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksha to rebuild a prosperous nation with lasting peace and harmony to usher a new glorious period in the annals of our history".
