Sri Lanka vs South Africa Video Highlights 3rd ODI Match 2013
Video Highlights of Sri Lanka vs South 3rd ODI Match played on 26th July 2012. South Africa produced a fine bowling display to record a 56-run victory over Sri Lanka and keep their one-day series hopes alive.
Starring performances from David Miller with the bat and Lonwabo Tsotsobe (4-22 from seven overs) with the ball helped halve the Proteas’ deficit in the five-match series to 2-1 with two games remaining.
Miller rescued a poor start with 85 not out that helped the visitors reach a respectable 223-7 from their 50 overs, before the hosts top order failed to fire, and they could only make 167 all out.
South Africa’s openers did not fare much better with Alviro Petersen departing for just eight, while Quinton de Kock (20) and JP Duminy (23) could not push on after making starts.
They had to rely on captain AB de Villiers to get the scoreboard moving with 47 off 72 balls before Miller came to the crease and pushed the run rate on further.
The 24-year-old's 85 off 72 deliveries included four fours and five sixes, and although Ajantha Mendis (3-35 from 10) snared De Villiers, Farhaan Behardien (2) and Robin Peterson (3), Ryan McLaren gave Miller enough support to post a defendable target.
Sri Lanka's reply could not have got off to a worse start, as Tsotsobe ripped through their top order, removing Upul Tharanga (5), Tillakaratne Dilshan (6) and Kumar Sangakkara (0) to leave the hosts reeling at 16-3 in the eighth over.
A 55-run partnership between Mahela Jayawardene and Dinesh Chandimal (29) gave the hosts hope but when Jayawardene was bowled by Robin Peterson for 24 it sparked another collapse.
A further four wickets fell for just 22 runs, and despite Thisara Perera's 65 they were never going to challenge South Africa.
The left-hander smashed 34 off one Robin Peterson over to boost his side’s faint chances of success, but eventually went for one shot too many as he tried to clear long-on off Behardien, but could only find Faf du Plessis in the deep.
Malinga was out four balls later, clean bowled by Behardien, and Duminy had Mendis caught by Tsotsobe at backward point in the next over to end the game.
