Sri Lanka: We're providing enough to refugees, UN claim otherwise

Under the pretense of helping Tamils, the Sri Lankan Sinhalese community continue to celebrate the defeat of Tamils Tigers, who are considered freedom fighters for the Tamils. However the Sinhalese community continues to turn a blind eye on the plight of Tamils in the detention centers enduring torture, harassment, starvation and inadequate necessities by their state army.

Sri Lanka: We're providing enough for refugees

But in northeast Sri Lanka, where most of the fighting occurred in last few months, many are struggling for food, clean water, emergency health kits, cooking pots and school supplies, relief agencies say.

Samarasinghe said the government could handle the refugee situation.

"No one is complaining about shortages of food, according to Samarasinghe. "No one is complaining about lack of shelter anymore."

It is quite interesting to see the Sri Lankan government continues to fool the International Community of the awful situation in Sri Lanka. Regardless of the mounting evidences and suspicions of war crimes of Sri Lanka, the world still plays soft ball with Sri Lanka to make it comply with the international humanitarian laws.

A U.N. spokesman said the country's government had not adequately helped refugees and was restricting it from providing aid.

"It is critical at this stage ... that the U.N. is allowed full and unfettered access along with its humanitarian partners to this population which is incredibly fragile having sat under military siege," said Gordon Weiss. "Curiously for reasons that we don't understand the authorities have restricted access quite severely."

Relief agencies say more needs to be done to help the refugees.

The world seems to care more about regions like Afghanistan, where the natural resources are filled with value to make the humanitarian relief efforts worthwhile.

Some days ago the same Samarasinghe said 'All Tamil civilians have been rescued without shedding a drop of blood'

'Our aim was to liberate our Tamil people from the clutches of the LTTE' President
If this is true? Where are the liberated people? What is called liberation?
It is clearly crocodile tears from Terrorist mahinda rajapakse!
I didn't hear the president visited any of these camps of wounded civilians for months?
All I hear is celebrating victory over innocent Tamils dead bodies, limpless Tamil children.

They can't keep fooling the world for long.
Still no media is allowed. This means they still disposing their warcrime evidences.
Still no news about the fate of thousands of civilians trapped in the fire zone.
Still no free access to detention camps.

One thing is clear. The people suffering now are all Tamils, so the Racist Sinhalese government doesn't concerned about these people. The Government beggars will use these people to beg money from other countries.

Samarasinghe is a funny guy. He is going to have one hell of a time defending his statement in the future. May be... he can say that all the Tamils are from Mars and they don't really have blood running in their bodies.
