Sri Lankan Army bombs child nutrition centre
Sri Lankan Army bombed the child nutrition center today wounding 258 tamils including 100 children inside safety zone.
In the past three days more than 100 people were killed and 400 were wounded. As there is no hospitals to treat the situation gets still worst everyday.
Sri Lanka Army (SLA) fired artillery shells hit a child care centre and milk powder distribution centre at Pokka'nai, killing at least 40 civilians and causing injuries to more than 258 including 100 children. The SLA has stepped up indiscriminate bombardment, according to latest reports. At least 25 dead bodies have been brought to the hospital and 13 of them were identified by medical authorities at the makeshift hospital. More than 100 civilians have been killed and at least 422 wounded within the last 3 days, including Wednesday.
On Monday 43 civilians were killed and 102 sustained injuries. On Tuesday at least 21 civilians were killed and 62 wounded
As the sri lankan army intensified the attacks in recent days, the civilian casualties are getting high.
Today, 8-Apr-2009 Wednesday itself 129 civilians were killed and 282 were wounded, most of them being children. None of the countries condemned this as these kind of attacks are becoming common. Three artillery shells targeted a child care / nutrition centre at Pokka'nai Wednesday morning where many civilians were waiting to obtain humanitarian milk rations for children. The shelling on child care centre was the single "most cruel carnage" on civilians within the safety zone, a rescue worker at the makeshift hospital in Puthumaaththa'lan said adding that exact casualty figures of children were yet to be reported from the site of the carnage, due to continued attacks till the evening.
