Sri Lanka man was killed live

Racism takes many facets in Sri Lanka.

Nearly 30,000 Tamils killed in the recent war in the Tamil regions.

Over 250,000 Tamil IDPs detained in interim camps under poor living conditions even after 5 months military victory over the Tamil rebels. IDPs are said to be resettled to the world when in reality they are forced to move to a new interim camp or prison.

Sri Lanka remains the lowest ranked for press freedom as no media is still allowed to enter the interim camps, the previous war zone or Tamil regions of north & east.

However, the recent attack on a Tamil youth by Sri Lankan Police tops the list. When it seems humanity can not take a lower blow from racisim in Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanakn Security Forces strive to beat their own records.

The mentally challenged Tamil youth was begging for mercy while beaten and forced to drown by the Sri Lankan Police in Colombo.

Sri Lanka Police Constable beat a mentally ill Tamil youth and forced the youth to drown near the sea near Bambalapitya, Colombo, railway station Thursday. The youth was identified as Balavarnam Sivakumar, 26, of Ratmalana, according to media reports in Colombo, which belatedly listed the youth's identity. "The entire country watched in horror, as a group of heavily built men attacked the mentally unstable youth with wooden poles while he pleaded for mercy, when it was telecast on several news bulletins on Thursday night," Sri Lankan Daily Mirror News Paper said.

Has the govt. responded to the allegations? This is sick!! What were the passengers at the station doing...happily watching it!?

So much for humanity! :(

1. The victim was a Tamil

2. The attackers were Sinhalese police

So, no one can save that poor boy.

This is the way how Sinhalese police deals with Tamils.

In the background of the increasing violence against Tamils in Sri Lanka, and the treatment of Tamils inside the government camps, this should come as no surprise. Yet, it is absolutely shocking that all those people just watched and did NOTHING to stop those police thugs from beating and forcing the youth to drown. Why isn't there international outcry against what the Lankan government is doing to Tamils in the name of curbing the resurgence of LTTE? This type of targeting where a mentally challenged Tamil youth can be murdered in broad daylight by so-called law enforcement authorities while other just stand by and watch it like its a spectacle brings back memories of Rwanda. Tamils in Sri Lanka are facing ethnic cleansing. The Lankan government needs to be stopped. Shame on the Sri Lankan government and the people of Sinhalese origin in Sri Lanka and the people in other countries in the world for not vocally condemning this genocide of Tamils in Lanka. The Sri Lankan government is using the defeat of the LTTE to stoke ethnic hatred against Tamils and to commit a GENOCIDE against Tamils. The international community needs to impose sanctions against Sri Lanka to make the government allow NGO's and international aid and UN inside the country AND to rehabilitate the Tamils in a responsible way and bring the war criminals on the government side to the courts.
