Sri Lankan President to citizen : work towards country's progress
Sri Lankan President Rajapakse says it is enough celebration of the victory over LTTE and urged the nation to work towards the economic progress. The victory is meaningful only if it is translates to the overall progress of the country
.
It is easy to fell into the trap of euphoria and forget about the much needed affirmative actions to reconcile the previously warring ethnicities. The immediate step towards this is to address the root cause of the conflict.
One of the immediate matters that the government should give priority is to improve the condition of the WDPs who are struggling in the Welfare camps. The present situation warrants Sri Lanka to avail all the help from all her friends.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has cautioned people against being lax after the defeat of the LTTE and said efforts must be made to build on the victory through accelerated economic development.
"There is no time to relax. We should build on this victory in taking the country forward. The words 'no' and 'can't' should not exist in our vocabulary," Mr. Rajapaksa said.
"We as a nation have achieved feats which some had earlier tagged as impossible, like defeating the world's foremost terrorist outfit. Thus if all of us get together and work as one, there is nothing we can't achieve," he said addressing the 1,000 newly-appointed graduate teachers at his residence on Monday.
The President said the country's unemployment rate which stood at 8.3 per cent in 2008 had now come down to 5.2 per cent, the state-run Daily News reported.
"Today five harbours are coming up in the country simultaneously while mega-electricity projects too have been initiated. Infrastructure too is being developed fast with rural villages being given priority in achieving equity in development," he said.

Funny.
Ignore 300,000 Tamil IDPs.
Ignore the calls of the international aid agencies to help.
Still restrict media.
Send threatening letters to Human Rights Groups.
Assault journalists.
Work towards which country's progress?!!
I guess the "honourable" Mahinda is speaking in code language.
Decoding....the message.

"you got me confused there for a second dude."
Happens if one sees changes happen around their real and imaginary world , dude.
In the month of May 2009 itself so many dramatic physical and psychological changes happened to "freedom fighers" and "freedom writers" of KoG. Usually it takes a roller-coaster ride would produce that effect.
For KTTEs the concept of a country is something like you have written. Prabhakaran “Anna” for all and all for “Anna”. Now that has become “No-Anna” and but the lingering effect of that ‘mercurial personality” (cyanidal?) would not go that easy. Can't blame anyone for that too. It will take a lot of time to come out of that Zen state and feel the reality.
I am sure by the time the life of ordinary Sri Lankan citizen will have changed beyond any KTTE's imagination or recognition.
