Yes, the civil war is over, yes, the government won

However we now have a situation that shows the government to be despots as they are against an independent report concerning the war and possible war crimes. They also restrict the worlds news media of which gives every indication they have a lot to hide and are in reality the despots the LTTE stated they were.

However even though the war is over in the reality world its not over on the internet, we have Tamil’s that live mostly overseas publishing propaganda. Some could be true but even then over blemished. Then we have Tamils that support the government or even I assume being paid by the Sri Lankan government to bombard the news groups and blog’s with propaganda. Its now got to a point we can not believe either side of the argument but due to the media screen we have no other option to side with the fact there is no smoke without fire.

That they the government, are hiding facts and are acting like despots and criminals as the LTTE have been saying for years. Until freedom of the press and media is allowed in Sri Lanka the world only has one option and that of assuming that the government and its security forces are guilty of war crimes, running concentration camps and lying through their teeth.

Their press releases are just propaganda. We the world have no other choice. I am truthfully fed up with the propaganda from both sides and because of the false reports feel that the propaganda is not valued citizen journalism a total waste of space and totally pointless as valued news.

Its time that Sri Lanka opens up to the world as at this moment the countries profile is complete sewage, stinks to hell.

I thought as much that there would be others fed up with all this propaganda its get so obvious and I feel the Sri Lanka government are paying people to invade the news groups with this stupid propaganda as a counter measure to the propaganda from the oversea supporters of the eradicated LTTE. What do both sides thing we are fools and can not see propaganda for what it really is. Sri Lanka is run by despots and despots tried to get autonomy from this despot government. Both deserve each other but the citizens of Sri Lanka deserve much better and thats for sure.

Countries such as Sri Lanka show their true spots when they ban the foriegn media. We have four nations that I know doing that at this very moment

In the event the opposing views cannot be tolerated, it is best to avoid public forums. One sh!t is tolerated and another presumed as sh!t is detested. IMHO this is just paying lip service to a miserably failed ex-terrorist doctorine.

Maybe it is the jealousy expressed in explicit form , from someone whose country still struggling and failing to get rid of the terrorism infested it and it's countrymen.

Let us forgive jealous men and women.

Abu Sayyaf- -Abu Sayyaf Philippines Terrorist Group

From Amy Zalman, Ph.D., for About.com

See More About:

Khadafi Janjali

Khadafi Janjali, head of Abu Sayyaf Group before his 2006 death

FBI Founded In: 1991Home Base: Southern islands of the PhilippinesObjectives: The group's stated goal is an Islamic state in western Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago, with the broader objective of a pan Islamic State spanning southeast Asia.Notable Attacks:

Abu Sayyaf is notorious for its repeated use of kidnapping and demanding ransom to fund their activities. Despite the Islamist orientation of the group, their use of terrorist tactics purely for profit blurs the line between ideologically motivated terrorism and simply violent, organized crime.

  • April 2007: Seven workers were abducted and beheaded; their heads were then delivered to the Philippine army.
  • December 2006: The Abu Sayyaf group was suspected when three injuries resulted from a bombing inside a department store in the Philippines.
  • February 2004: Abu Sayyaf claimed responsibility when 116 people were killed when the Superferry 14, a ferry sailing in Manila's waters, was exploded.
  • May 2001: Twenty were taken hostage from the Philippine island, Palawan. The group killed Guillermo Sobero, one of three American hostages.
  • April 2000: Abu Sayyaf militants kidnapped 21 on Sipadan, a Malaysian resort island Libya paid over $20 million to free them.
  • April 1995: In the first major attack by Abu Sayyaf group in Ipil, a southern Filipino town. Thirty were taken hostage, and 53 civilians and soldiers were killed.

Leadership & Membership:

The Abu Sayyaf Group was founded by Abduragak Abubakar Janjalani, who was killed in a shootout with police in 1998. Subsequent leader Khaddafi Janjalani was briefly on the FBI's most wanted terrorists list before his death leader until his death in September 2006. Its membership numbers have waxed and waned since its founding, but were reportedly around 4000 active members at the group's height.

Abu Sayyaf Group and Al Qaeda:

There is minimal evidence of strong ties between the Abu Sayyaf Group and Al Qaeda, especially at present. There is suspicion that Al Qaeda funded the group in its early years. Muhammad Jamal Khalifa, , Osama bin Laden's brother-in-law, may have met with the group around that time. Ramzi Yousef, who organized the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, probably had some connection with the group.

If sri lanka allows free media then we will know who does the propaganda. Until then  every news looks like propaganda.  But the very idea of blocking media itself puts sri lankan government as suspect. Otherwise they may not hide anything. Now any neutral person talking for media freedom is considered as LTTE or LTTE sympathaziser by the government.

3
Babel-Fish

Agreed, and there is always something wrong and evil if governments block the media, from reporting. The Sri Lanka government has stamped evil despots clearly on their political flag. The world has no other option but to perceive it as such.

gerrypopplestone

Well said, Babel-Fish! On both counts too.  The come-to-jesus freak insults your intelligence and the Sri Lankan is closing off all forms of criticism and seems to have no viable plan for the future of the Tamils and how to give them back their dignity after such awful treatment by both sides.  I hate the triumphalism of the Sri Lankan Army and the way no one challenges it on NowPublic!

I am not Filipino its not my country, take care when character assassinating the Babel-Fish is never what you assume he is. In this case I am neutral and fed up with the propaganda from both sides of the Sri Lanka argument. Read the article it gives a much clearer view and i hate repeating myself.

Your comment is a red herring please keep on the actual subject matter and prove you can debate decently with out accusations, assumptions and troll like character assassination.

How nice, when you can't answer the article with a good argument you try the art of all trolls character assignation, lol

Hey less of the pedophile I am a normal hot blooded male with a piece of candy that would make you eat your heart out. lol

So your divorced, single and lonely and have the funds to retire in Asia or a third world country. What comes first finding a new lover or traveling to your new destination?

Well my advice would be to travel to the new destination and then take your time in finding a suitable partner. It's also best to sample the product before making any firm commitments that you will regret later. Yes it's tempting to use the internets dating services however the girls that advertise their needs there are mostly there for all the wrong reasons. They are gold diggers and you want someone to love you and not your money. But if you visit their country the internet can be a useful tool, you can pick the girls you fancy and then interview them.

You win this years nasty trolls award. Lol

I make sure this comment is left here and not eradicated by the admin as it shows the type of person you really are. Also the attitude by those that support the despot government in Sri lanka. lol

Your your own worst enemy (I love feeding the trolls, its amusing)

Your turn troll....

Note are you paid by the Sri Lankan government?  How can we be sure your not when you comment in such away?

Uncle Sam

For once , I am not one of those who kill a dead body all over again. So don't try to achieve your pseudo martyrdom. Your rant that you call yourself an article is simple hollow, barring some conveniently stolen ideas.  It is a tin-can.  You have no idea how vicious was the propaganda the LTTE was unleashing on this small country. Comparing to this whatever propaganda unleashed by the super powers and blocs of coldwar were just child's play. Either a total retard or a pure propagandist will argue that Sri Lanka should not counter this propagnada war when it's very existance is in jeopardy. You see only one example from the world history that says any ruler showed such stupidity - the great king Ashoka. That reduced his great kingdon to a few pillars. Sorry, no modern country will just play sitting duck for such propaganda.

Wish you good luck with fish business.

Yes the truth can make people squirm and scratch, lol

1
Babel-Fish

No its not paying lip service to any side, its a clear statement that we can not trust any thing presented by either side at dispute as to much propaganda has been fed on to the internet.

1
Uncle Sam

Sure, but this is the first time I am seeing someone scratch other's back seeing a lie..!

Lolllolll...!

"My article is strong enough to of got your attention and strong enough to show the truth that you seeming do not like to hear. lol "

Me too really really happy seeing this boundless happiness of yours. Congratulation of achieving my attention.  I like your innovative concept - fictional truth. LOLLLOLLL!

Sri Lankan government had only one option to get rid of LTTE terrorism. Speak the same language that terrorist speak. It is nice to see that they communication was very effective to boot. There are so many big countries and their governments out there those failed miserably to curb terrorism in their respective regions. Media freedom and embedded journalism are very good things - especially for the events like Antarctica expedition or underwater journey. But that does not have any place in a war-front.  For someone to understand the real horror of war and terrorism, they should experience that. Obviously an outsider can never understand this - especially who had a peaceful life so far.

Some time back I overheard to people who were fond of learning new languages (but not much successful in that) talking to each other. One of them was explaining the method he uses to master a language was to strongly imagine that he is fluent and then speak out. Your version of "truth" is exactly the same thing what that person described. You just rant believing that the outcome is truth and expect everyone else to believe that.

Keep "lolling.."

Red herring merchant, please join the correct debate of which does not concern imaginary gods or any man made religion of which has no chance of being a solution in Sri Lanka. In fact religion has a horrid history of causes of war and ethnic cleansing that goes back centuries.

Jesus is dead, Gods are imaginary and we are talking reality here in this real world of ours.

Plus of course the real problem concerning your opinion the government in Sri Lanka are just the same as Mohammad's mountain they would not move an inch for the Pope let alone a bunch of born again Christians or a similar cult that could prove they can walk on water. Hey lets have some reality we are talking about the real world, lol

0
Babel-Fish

Yep of course thats the total answer and Arther Dent in the HHGG got it all wrong FISH has nothing to do with the ultimate question of why we are here or anything. "Don't Panic" lol

Hope you get the drift, my comment has nothing to do with religion as yours had nothing to do with the article. Religious red herrings will not be tolerated and you have been reported to the Federations Vogan inter-galaxy police (Men in Black). "Don't panic".

Meanwhile community members are asked not to feed the trolls, lol

I blame both sides for the propaganda and its not me doing the ranting. LTTE was a terrorist organization, its methods were abominable and total callus. No excuse whats so ever for them killing innocent civilians to archive an aim.

The government squashed the LTTE and tried to hide the facts and the cruel methodology and are just as equally callous and have left no doubt to the world of their criminal intent as they are trying to hide the crimes of terrorism and murder of innocent civilians meshed up in the very nasty little war of elitist against elitist.

I am as a complete outsider highlighting the fact that we can not trust the information fed to the media and news groups because it all looks like propaganda. Why are people here trying to attack my character?

What I have stated in the article is true and of course some people do not like the truth especial those that supply the propaganda. Oh yes I do know the venom of both sides propaganda. There are people paid to put this sewage of propaganda on the web and it does nothing to promote Sri Lanka of which now has a horrid profile and its ruled by a bunch of despots.

My article is strong enough to of got your attention and strong enough to show the truth that you seeming do not like to hear. lol

I have no time for both sides of the Sri Lanka argument I am a neutral observer of whom has no reason to lie. In this is my last comment concerning Sri Lanka, I do not intend to debate on any of the articles concerning nor will recommend any article. Propaganda is a total waste of time to argue about and we have an ongoing propaganda war on this community.

Its unfortunate that you too have felt victim of the name calling.

Its very unfortunate that you decided that you will not contribute to debates on articles concerning Sri Lanka.

I guess that was their aim and they seem to have succeeded.

You are not the first one to have fell victim, in fact you are placed among the great people like Louis Arbour, Erik Solheim, Allan Rock, David Miliband, and Bob Rae.

I hope you will reconsider your decision to become a bystander.

The Military of Sri Lankan population of only 17 million (in the entire world) defeated the World's most ruthless terrorist organization - Tamil Tigers Terrorists - who boasted they were representing the global Tamil population of almost 100 million. This is not a new thing for Sri Lanka - it is history repeating itself. The terrorism from beyond the shores of Sri Lanka which was once again defeated - with the enemy completely anihilated and wiped out. It will happen again and again with these blood thirsty and deranged terrorist elements trying to capture the beautiful Island of Sri Lanka from its rightful population. And the Sri Lankans will stand up to them each time and defeat these barbarians and protect and preserve what is the only homeland for the 17 million Sinhalese people - and those who want to live side by side with them as Sri Lankans in peace and harmony. As for those with ulterior motives, please try another location for your "homeland" which never existed.
