New Years Beatdown!

Caught On Tape- St. Louis Police Officer Beats Man With Baton Repeatedly And Uses Pepper Sprays | Man Apparently Told Cop To "Shut Up"

Passengers at what looks like a Shell Gas Station in St. Louis have video taped a police officer repeatedly hitting a handcuffed man with a baton, and then using pepper spray on the man.

Police said in a statement Tuesday that while the circumstances are not yet known, the video is disturbing. Police say they have not yet identified the officer, but he will be placed on administrative duty once identified, until the investigation is complete.

The video was shot early on New Year's Day, at a convenience store, through the window of a car that was not involved.

One of the witnesses can be heard saying "Oh my God, he told the cop to shut up," and "Oh my God, the cop just used pepper spray."

Lesson 1: Do not tell a police officer to shut up

Lesson 2: Cops should not beat down people for verbal abuse this is the age of "24-7" surveillance.

Lesson 3: Witnesses who videotape  alleged police beating should not provide a running commentary on the video unless absolutely necessary - the raw audio is as important as the raw video.

cops should be trained to cope with mouthing off.  You should not be beaten by a cop for any reason except when you're being dangerous and need to be subdued.  Once the person is compliant, whatever is coming out of his mouth, the cop should not get physical.  This guy was handcuffed and sitting still.  No excuse for this.  The witnesses are terrified as though they're witnessing gang thuggery!

The man appeared drunk as they walked off and it was suggested he was belligerent.

Personally I like old fashioned police work.
