Boxer Jeff Lacy Brother - Hydra Lacy Jr. The Suspect In Shooting Of Two St. Petersburg Police Officers Found Dead - A Registered Sexual Offender (photo, mug shot)

The suspect in Monday's shooting in Florida, Hydra Lacy Jr., 39, a registered sexual offender, has been found dead after a day long standoff. Hydra Lacy Jr. was the older brother of Jeff Lacy, the boxer. Jeff Lacy was the former IBF super middle weight champion.

St. Petersburg Police spokesman Michael Puetz says the suspect was found dead when officers went into the home Monday afternoon, about six hours after the shootout.

Puetz said officers originally went to the home to arrest 39-year-old Hydra Lacy Jr. He says investigators believe Lacy is the person who opened fire from the attic, but they haven't confirmed that.

Hydra Lacy Jr. a registered sexual offender has long criminal history, mainly of sex crimes including sexual battery, and child sex battery.

A U.S. Marshall and police officers were serving an arrest warrant for Hydra Lacy Jr. and apparently he was holed up in the attic of the home he was staying in and opened fire. Two police officers were killed and the US Marshall suffered two gunshot wounds.

It's a dark day for the city of St. Petersburg," Mayor Foster said. "Two of our officers made the supreme sacrifice."

Harmon said over 100 shots were fired in the gun battle with the suspect, who had an extensive criminal record.

Police used an armored vehicle to break through the walls of the house so one of the officers who was shot could be rescued and taken to the hospital.

The suspect was not immediately identified but remained barricaded in the house, apparently in its attic, hours after the gunfight erupted. He did not respond to pleas from negotiators to give himself up."

I expect the crime rates to fall slightly in the St. Pete area.I'd like to say I'm sorry this waste of human flesh is dead, but all I can think is that the taxpayers will now be saved a massive needless expense of keeping this sack of meat on death row for several years. However, I DO feel sorry for the families of the SPPD officers this scumbag murdered.

This story has changed a bit too much for me to be comfortable with it. Lacy was never convicted of anything violent like murder up to this point. The house was demolished, quite unconventionally, to get to Lacy. There's something more to this.
