STAGGERING DEATH TOLL

"McCain will make Cheney look like Gandhi" - Pat Buchanan

GOP KILLING FLOOR  (video)

Now this might come as a complete surprise to those mentally growing on a steady diet of Big Media. But for the unhappy few who still balk at enjoying the proto-fascism being forced down our collective throat… well, the good old US of A has been on a killing spree for most of the past century and it’s the main reason why the rest of the world agreed with gonzo journalist Hunter Thompson when he wrote…

"We have become a monster in the eyes of the whole world – a nation of bullies and bastards who would rather kill than live peacefully. We are not just whores for power and oil, but killer whores with hate and fear in our hearts. We are human scum, and that is how history will judge us… No redeeming social value. Just whores. Get out of our way, or we’ll kill you." – Hunter S. Thompson

Yep, under the guise of our darling CIA, perfectly adequate democracies have been toppled and replaced with assassin juntas giving new meaning to the concept of genocidal maniacs.

This notion is crucial for the same guilty parties are now behind the McCain bid for the presidency as demonstrated in my latest clip : GOP KILLING FLOOR (included in the procedings)

Let’s start south of the border in Central America for size…

In Guatemala:

* In 1944 a democratic, reformist government is overthrown by the CIA.

* In a 36-year civil war ending officially in 1996, 250,000 people are “disappeared,” with over 90% of the killings linked to US-backed military and paramilitary forces.

* Around 1,000,000 (12% of the whole nation) made refugees–hundreds of thousands imprisoned, tortured, or raped by US proxies.

* Land reform, national healthcare, and progressive income tax were main demands of rebel groups and their supporters.

In El Salvador:

* 30,000 killed in US-suppported purge of reformists in the 1930s.

* 75,000 killed, over 90% by US-backed military and paramilitary forces, in a 12 year civil war that ended in 1991.

* Around 1,000,000 (25% of the whole nation) made refugees–hundreds of thousands imprisoned, tortured, or raped by US proxies.

* Land reform, national healthcare, and progressive income tax were main demands of rebel groups and their supporters.

The US gave over $10 billion in military aid to the Salvadoran dictatorship, which was formed to defend the rule of the “14 Families” over most of El Salvador’s land and wealth. The US Ambassador at the time has said that without that aid the reformist groups fighting with the rebels would have taken over the country.

In Honduras:

* US company United Fruit controlled the best land in the country, most of which it left idle. Attempts to regulate the company were met with US-managed violence.

* In 80s, a military dictatorship tortured and disappeared an estimated 10,000 reformists. Witnesses to torture have established that such activity was directly managed by US forces in Honduras, and often took place on US bases there.

In Nicaragua:

* The Somoza family and a few close associates, kept in power by US support for almost 50 years, owned the majority of land and wealth in Nicaragua. Somoza killed around 40,000 civilians through bombings and executions before he was finally driven out to Miami, taking the national treasury with him.

* The new government was praised by international development organization Oxfam, who said that of 79 developing countries where they worked, “Nicaragua was exceptional in the strength of that government’s commitment to improving the condition of the people.”In the early 1980s, even the World Bank called its projects “extraordinarily successful in Nicaragua… better than anywhere else in the world.” The Inter-American Development Bank concluded that “Nicaragua has made noteworthy progress in the social sector, which is laying the basis for long-term socio-economic development.”

* Malnutrition, illiteracy, and the prevalence of disease were greatly reduced (especially before the war) through a combination of public spending, public volunteerism, and redistribution of land.

* The US soon after blocked almost all loans and aid to Nicaragua. The US placed full embargoes on Nicaragua, complete with the mining of harbors.

* The US established a terrorist army called the “Contras,” who specifically targeted civilians–health workers, teachers, and cooperative farmers, which led to 45,000 deaths and many other tortures and kidnappings.

In Panama:

* The US govt. retained control over the greatest source of wealth in the country, the Panama Canal, for almost 100 years.

* The US maintained Manuel Noriega, a violent drug dealer, as dictator of Panama throughout the 1980s.

* In 1989 the US govt. changed its mind and bombed and invaded Panama to remove Noriega from power. Up to 4,000 Panamanian civilians are killed in the process.

Only Costa Rica has escaped… so far!

Costa Ricans abolished their military in 1949 and built a society based on guarantees to health, education, minimum wages, and public development planning. The US govt. has for decades searched for ways to break the system and open up Costa Rica’s wealth, and had hoped to get passed CAFTA passed here without much opposition.

Maybe… “We Need To Apologize To Central Americans” The same deadly medication has been applied in Chili, Timor, Vietnam and…well most of the third world and emerging nations around the world.

Read "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins to really get an accurate picture of what has been happening in our back for so long now… it’s a crying shame !

"It is an act of insanity and national humiliation to have a law prohibiting the President from ordering assassination." - Henry Kissinger

John McCain By David Sirota I'll admit it: I used to admire John McCain. To paraphrase the UFO poster from "The X Files," I wanted to believe. Specifically, I wanted to believe the guy talking tough about campaign finance reform was committed to getting money out of politics.

Robert Scheer on John McCain

"The Man Who Would Be Bush" -- Are Americans unusually stupid or is it something our president put in the water? As millions surrender their homes and sacrifice other standards of our nation’s economic stability and reputation to the caprice of the Bush-Cheney imperium, a majority of voters tell pollsters that they might vote for a candidate who promises more of the same.

35 Years After Original 9/11   New Transcripts of Kissinger's Role in Chilean Coup   By Peter Kornbluh   When Henry Kissinger began secretly taping all of his phone conversations in 1969, little did he know that he was giving history the gift that keeps on giving. Now, on the 35th anniversary of the September 11, 1973, CIA-backed military coup in Chile, phone transcripts that Kissinger made of his talks with President Nixon and the CIA chief among other top government officials reveal in the most candid of language the imperial mindset of the Nixon administration as it began plotting to overthrow President Salvador Allende, the world's first democratically elected Socialist.
