Nagaon(Assam),India : 19th June 2009 (Friday) : The year 2009 is the Golden
year Jubilee year of State Fire Service organisation,Assam.In connection
with the Golden Jubilee year, State Fire Service Organisation,Assam
organised a Fire Awareness Programme in Nagaon Police Reserve on Friday. The
programme was attended by Director, SFSO Mr. Dilip Bora, Deputy commissioner
of Nagaon district Dr. J. Balaji, Suptd. of Police Nagaon Nitul Gogoi , Dr.
Manik Kar, H.O.D (Dept. of geography) of Nowgong college. Dr. Kar presented
a short awareness lecture by Slide Show Presentation. On his speech he
showed the guest and audiences the cause of Major Fire outbreaks and what
type of precautions can be taken. After then Dilip Bora delivered his
lecture on awareness programme. He urged the public to stay prepared,
maintaining calm and help the fireman at the time of need.He informed that
in Assam at present 1,351 personnel were serving in the State Fire Service
Organisation. They were stationed in 65 permanent and 20 temporary fire
stations backed up by 516 pieces of fire equipment, including water tender
pumps, foam tender pumps, trailer pumps and portable pumps.
The fireman showed a fire fighting demonstration in which
various techniques were showed how to fight and save human life and
property.
