Thanks Obama, now it's very easy for me to represent my nation here...
Finally, Ms. Barrett, you have a different task, as you will represent America in a country that has travelled further down the path of democracy and prosperity. Finland is a world leader in technology and innovation, and even outranks the United States in some measures of development.
But it still faces challenges in its relationship with Russia and its longstanding position outside of Euro-Atlantic security institutions. At some point soon, Finland may move toward membership in NATO. Should the Finish people and government chose to pursue that objective, I hope you will be their biggest booster.

I'm quite sure, a lot of NATO countries, would accept Finland as a member. Closing up with NATO has lasted now almost 15 years. The army is ready, politicians have started to consider it as an option, but the majority of the people is still against it. But I think, that reasons in opposing NATO base more on feelings than facts.

What is the motivation for Finland to join NATO now?
Finland successfully resisted when there was a real motivation, the cold war time & pioneered the famous Finlandization.
Has Finland reduced herself to another former USSR state craving to join NATO?
