Texting is useful at times but

it is out of order at other times.

Driving while texting is dangerous

and many have been killed while

doing so.  It is less dangerous

while walking but still it is not

a good idea as this story illustrate.

If she had to contact someone that

quickly she should have called  and

talked.

Alexa Longueira, 15, was walking with a friend along Victory Blvd. on Wednesday when she suddenly dropped underground.

"She's all scraped up on her back, under her arms and her shoulders," her mother, Kim Longueira, said.

The schoolgirl had just been passed the phone by her friend and was opening it to send a text message when the ground beneath her feet disappeared.

The manhole had been opened by a Department of Environmental Protection team flushing a high-pressure sewer line, officials said.

Hi, this story has already been done here: Alexa Longueira Falls Down Manhole While Texting; Family to Sue

Also, please note that stories should be at least 50% highlight and 50% original text, and in any case never 100% highlight. Thanks!

Well we knew this was bound to happen, the most interesting part of it is, we all seem to do it. Texting while walking, while driving, while working, etc.

Don't think it's so much texting and walking that's the issue, as the fact that she was so focused on a tiny 6 cm^2 screen that apparently all peripheral vision and extraneous sensory information was blocked out. That'd have to be a pretty important message she was sending...

I really don't agree with texting and driving, though; that's just dangerous (even if it precludes the possibility of dropping into a manhole)!

Its a wonder there are not more accidents here as the Philippines is the Text capital of the world. If you walk down the street one see's women here exercising their thumbs. Motor Cyclist texting whilst driving.
