23 Dec 08 - Channel News Asia reported this evening on the 9.30 pm TV news that the Singapore Flyer has been stuck since around 4.15 pm today. 173 people were on the giant observation wheel when it stopped, due to technical problems. Some people have been rescued but most remain in the Flyer, according to the news report.
I happened to be at the Marina Barrage with my family at the time and this photo was taken some 45 mins after the wheel had stopped. At the time I was not aware the the Flyer had ground to a halt and that there were people trapped in it.
Update: The Flyer started moving at around 11.15 pm the same day. So what was supposed to be a half-hour ride extended into a 7-hour marathon for the 170 odd passengers.
