NP Rank:
Still A Global Quandary
"These are the times that try men's souls." When Thomas Paine actually quoted this little did he realize that in his time compared to our time there remains a certain anxiety that did prevail in both periods. The dynamics of both times where citizens face many crisis paralell each other. What this country went through back then compared to today resonates that certain degree of a foreboding premonition and yet a certain optimism of a better future for all. Still this quote sums up what many Americans are feeling, very apropos` for today.
In the wake of the worst disaster to hit the the United States since Hurricane Katrina this past week only to be hit with gas prices soaring, again, the continued conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq dragging on for over 8 years now, the turmoil in the Mid East especially Libya and now Syria, along with drug cartels invading our own country, and with each state remains so destitute because of so many budget cuts all of which continue to ravage an already depressed economy. It is no wonder that the United States is in such a sociological, economical, and physiological crisis. The American citizen continues to be faced with that uncertain future. With no "real" apparent solutions coming out of Washington so far only solidifies the fact of prolonged misery will prevail for so many.
Many factors have all attributed to this current economic meltdown, a world that can't live in peace, or the environment wrecking so much devastation on humanity. I keep looking back and remembering a distant past when my father was nearing retirement some 50 years ago. Sure there was a world full of tension, but within the United States a certain optimism prevailed for most. What worked for businesses and the national economy back then compared to today is a total erosion of basic economic principals where greed has replaced common sense, compassion, and a certain benevolence toward others. A complete deterioration of morals, ethics, sound business and fiscal policies at all levels has all but faded away.
The worst fiscal, economic, and social crisis of the 21st. century happened as a direct result of a cumulative subconscious effort on the part of corporate America when practically every business and financial institution failed to practice what worked from the period of the late 1940's' to the 1970's. This is the period of the greatest economic expansion in our history. Then to throw it all away and adopt literately a script from the movie Wall Street "Greed is Good" as the way business are run today is such a travesty of unparallel events. Long gone are the days that businesses produced quality, durable, and affordable goods and services. Governmental policies of the past 30 years only accelerated this economic decline.
The United States cannot afford to wait any longer in coordinating with the United Nations in solving those acute global tensions, this economic crisis or to let any more business and Corporations continue to export jobs over seas. Already this current economic crisis has created a ripple effect all across the globe. With the rising cost of living compounded with the rising unemployment rates in all industrial countries continues to be a major threat to each nations national security and the stability. What Corporate America created in their thirst for the quick and easy profits has instead done just the opposite. We created a economic downward spiral of all the worlds economies. Now the task at hand is how to stop this economic domino effect and reverse the cycle of deterioration of economies. No easy task considering the continued environmental upheavals, the way our own political process has evolved and global tensions that continue to mount.
To transform our society and our country from one of continued economic and social decay to one of unparallel economic expansion begins with legislative programs based on increasing the tax base in every local community all across America. First: To immediately create economic momentum Congress must pass a stimulus bill aimed at working class Americans. For those who earn less than $50,000, for those who are unemployed, for those who lost their homes, and for those who are about to loose their homes. A sizable block grant no less than $30,000 to spend or pay down debt would I know what the Republicans are thinking, no more bailouts, but that is precisely what is warranted now. A reverse psychology in that to go in deeper in dept is to get out of dept. Just think of the rationale` of this scenario: the true application of the Williams Theory Of Economic Evolution is paramount in reducing and eventually eliminating our national dept.
Second: Corporations and businesses must step up to the plate in regards to paying living wages for their employees. The stagnation or even reduction of wages is one of the biggest contributors in the decline of quality of products or services that are produced. This is very ineffective in creating any economic stability.
Third: The United States Congress must pass Universal Health Care. A single payer plan similar in scope and efficiency as the English , European, and Canadian systems and rid ourselves of the bureaucratic Medicare and Medicaid which is so ineffective today. Having a Universal Health Care system in the United States will free up funding for all business and in turn will produce more economic benefit for all.
Fourth: There must be a global regulatory board for all financial institutions to ensure each nations regulatory board is continuing to ensure financial stability. This can be accomplished through the United Nations and the World Bank. This also would help stop the fraud and malfeasance from banks that continue to display no conscience in the way they handle mortgages or any other type of loans.
Fifth: This is the most essential ingredient in securing the nations economic future and national security. The United States must pass a National Economic Reform Bill. This reform bill would encompasses a sound energy policy for the reduction of green house gasses while ensuring lasting domestic affordable fuel for all. This would have an immediate impact in reducing the price of gas today. To equalize our trade deficit reform NAFTA and other trade agreements made within the past 30 years with higher tariffs imposed on Mexico, China, India and even Japan. Again this will go a long way in increasing employment here in the United States. These are just some of the most important aspects outlined in National Economic Reform. When total National Economic Reform is implemented all facets of our society and economy will be rejuvenated. Now is the time to do what is right for America. To wait any longer for our legislatures to act in implementation of National Economic Reform is only pushing this country further away from the stability and security that every American seeks.
Let's hope that our elected officials at all levels of government realize that this country can no longer continue in the direction we are headed. Only with complete reform of current policies will turn this country around and point it toward a much brighter future for all.
