New York State Senate, controlled by right-wing Republicans, led by Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno (pictured), refuses to act on Senate Bill S 1925-2003, "Dignity For All Students Act" (DASA).

Enacts the "Dignity For All Students Act"; authorizes the commissioner of education to establish policies and procedures affording all students in public schools an environment free of harassment and discrimination based on actual or perceived race, national origin, ethnic group, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender or sex; requires reporting harassment and discrimination to such commission; makes exemptions.

In the recent death of Oxnard, California student Lawrence King, a 15 year old youth who, because he admitted to being Gay, was shot twice in the head in a Computer Science Lab inside E.O. Green Junior High School by a 14 year old youth, demands are being made upon lawmakers across the Nation to enact Legislation that wil protect ALL youth from school violence.

New York State Senate Bill No. S 1925-2003 was a possibility in 2003 and 2004, yet lays dead again in New York State Senate with knowledge that violence in New York State public schools is on the rise, and with knowledge that New York State public school Administrators, Faculty, and Staff often lack the knowledge and skills necessary to address the social, emotional, and educational challenges faced by GLBTQ Youth, and are in fact hiding the violence perpetrated against these youth.
