NP Rank:
Store Clerks getting Dumb and Dumber?
Opinion
Barry Artiste, Now Public Contributor
Certainly help is hard to find for store owners in what can only be concieved as Dumb and Dumber when a Robbery Suspect is accused of calling Stores in advance, requesting they empty the till, put the money in a bag, leave it out for him and do not call police, as he will be by later to pick up the cash. Unbelieveably the robber shows up 90 minutes later and makes off with the "cash and carry".
Yep, only in Canada, when Robbers are too lazy to wait to be served and call for Take Out Cash.
This only strengthens my belief that God loves Stupid people, because he made so many of them, and apparently Ontario is Mecca.
Alleged robber called ahead to make sure store had cashCanwest News ServicePublished: Monday, March 24, 2008
WINDSOR, Ont. - Windsor police said Monday they have charged a man after several convenience store robberies in which the thief called ahead to make sure the clerk had the money bagged and ready.
In the most recent robbery, just before 2 a.m. Monday, the culprit called to ask how much money was in the till before showing up. He was unmasked, police said.

Hi Barry,
I really do enjoy your opinion pieces! :)
So let me get this straight; the robber calls ahead prior to a robbery - and the store clerks actually got the cash ready for him?
I thought convenience stores all had those buttons under the counter that alert the police?

Thanks Swan for the comments, and I kid you not, the Province of Ontario, not only rife with Rogue Dentists now offers "We bag your cash and hold it for you, if you call ahead service" for Robbers, I kid you not, it really happens. Hence why convienience store clerks get minimum wage, and even then that seems a tad too much to pay someone who gives away your cash, just imagine what happens in these stores with their merchandise when people walk in? Even worse imagine if this store was located on the corner of Hastings and Main in DTES? As for me I am waiting for this clerk to get a job at Best Buy, as you know I am a hankering for that 50 inch big screen TV, and I'll make sure I call ahead and reserve one and travel 3,000 miles for a free TV from this guy.

I thought so too Swan. Maybe they just wanted to see if he would actually show up! I can't believe he did to be honest...

Hey Amy, intelligent store help must be hard to find, one can only assume the clerk may have thought that red button under the counter was for setting off a Nuclear strike. Of course that is only a wild guess. I think I smell and up and coming politician in the making.
