A search of a high school in Pasadena, California, was conducted earlier today for a suspect who may have been armed. Police are still not releasing all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

UPDATE: 6:31 PM EST - Saturday March 1

PASADENA, Calif. —  Police arrested a student on suspicion of carrying a weapon Friday after a daylong lockdown and search of a high school and students.

The male student, whose name was not released, was taken into custody for investigation of being a minor possessing a firearm, police said in a statement.

No weapon has been found, but there was probable cause to arrest the
student, including witness accounts that the youth was carrying one, Lt. Jari Faukner said.

Police said the investigation was ongoing and another search could be conducted later.

UPDATE: 7:52PM EST

SWAT teams were sent to Blair International Baccalaureate School shortly before 9:30 a.m. after a faculty member reported that someone on campus had seen a man with a handgun, police Lt. Tom Pederson said.

"Very little description of this person was provided," he said.

As a precaution, all 1,200 students were confined to classrooms for hours as police searched the campus, formerly called Blair High School.

No gun had been found by 3 p.m. but the search of both classrooms and students continued.

Blair East, an adjoining middle school, also was locked down.

Students were to be released to their parents when the search was complete, said Binti Harvey, spokeswoman for the Pasadena Unified School District.

Students also were searched. Some were seen with their hands on their heads walking single-file toward rooms.

Nothing had been found at Blair High by early afternoon, said Binti Harvey, spokeswoman for the Pasadena Unified School District.

The weapon report led to a lockdown and all students were sent to their classrooms, Harvey said.

Police received a report shortly before 9:30 a.m. that there might be a man with a gun on campus, police dispatcher R. Johnson said.

Officers were checking classrooms and individual students as well. When that was complete, parents would be able to take their children home, she said.

No gunman had been found as of 1 p.m., Johnson said.
