MUSSOORIE, 21 Dec: The recent Mumbai terrorist attacks and global meltdown have led hotels like Jaypee Residency Manor to completely restructure their plans for Christmas and New Year Celebrations. According to the Resident Manager Anil Sharma, JP Residency will not be celebrating the Christmas Carnival this year and the Grand Celebrations for the New Year have also been curtailed. However, the in house routine programmes will carry on as usual.
He adds that tourist inflow has decreased considerably after the Mumbai attack and the off-season has also not helped the cause. He firmly stated that keeping to the true tradition of Jaypee, no downsizing of the staff had been done.
According to the Food and Beverage Manager, Siddharth Aggarwal, the hotel will be functioning as usual and had come up with alternative programmes like “Celebration”, which includes a complete package for Anniversaries and Birthdays, accompanied by wine and delicious cuisine at discounted prices. He also said that the tariff for the rooms was also at the low end for the first time.
Resident Manager Anil Sharma also said that Games like Golf, Croquet, Bowling and Swimming on the Jaypee lawns were a treat this year for the tourists. This is the only Hotel in Mussoorie that has four ‘Putting Greens” to the delight of the golfers, he added.
The Security Head of Jaypee, Colonel RS Sidhu (Retd) said that security had also been beefed up in the wake of the recent Mumbai attack. Thorough checking of the vehicles at the main gate followed by close inspection of the luggage before entering the hotel was the norm now. CCTV cameras were in place covering all corners of the hotel and the tourists were happy at these developments, he added further.
