Subversive Search Engine: Google involved in Syria warmongering campaign?
Last week I wrote a story called "Lies & Deceit & Syria - Propaganda: it's a Rant"
I wrote the story with the purpose of making people think more deeply about what is really going on in Syria. In the opinion piece and the comments attached to it I attempt to present facts, figures and points to consider which cast doubt upon the broadly published claims about happenings in Syria over the last year.
Yesterday Google removed the story from direct links in its search results.
I do not claim to be a great writer, But removal from the search engine results was not due to "Bad Writing"..........
When you "google" something in quotes only those exact words in the quotes will be searched for in their search engine. It is almost unheard of for the first and only posting of an exact phrase on the internet not to be the number one result when you search for it within quotes. Of all the stories I have ever written, I have never seen a situation where my unique story title is not on the first page of results when you search for it in quotes.
If you search on Yahoo, Altavista, Dogpile or Bing "Lies & Deceit & Syria" shows as the #1 returned result in a direct link to the NowPublic story. On google it was number one up until yesterday, today 50 pages back and 500 assorted links reviewed and there is not a single direct link to the NowPublic story.
Some 20 pages back on Google when searching for "Lies & Deceit & Syria - Propaganda: it's a Rant" we have a fantastic photo from Yankee jim and a completely unrelated story showing snow levels half way up his window in 2010, that picture has 110 views and as of this writing my story is approaching 300 views. So view count can not be the reason for my story not being ranked higher than a Yankee Snow picture. 25 pages back we have a story about a male Tennis coach wearing the pink panties of a 13 year old he was having a sexual relationship with. That story comes from 2007 and it is troubling to think why it is related to my story title in any way that would allow it to show up when my title is searched for in quotes. Around 40 pages back we have a well viewed 2010 video of a preteen "sexy samba" star..... Samba is sorta like Syria right? and on page 50 we have a photograph viewed 90 times since July of last year that has a young woman in a see through crotchet wedding dress and a crotchet umbrella. All this and no sign of my actual story with a direct link to it when it is my story title that was searched for in "quotes".
The first time I searched Google for my story title it had been sub linked in one way shape or form 12,000+ times according to the results, and the story was indeed directly linked as the #1 result from Google. Later the count dropped to 10,000+ results and a direct link to the story was nowhere to be found. at present there are only 4,000 results when searched and still no direct links to the story. "Khloe & Lamar join Kim & Kris to Celebrate Khloe's 27th Birthday" shows up in the first page of results when my story is searched for "in quotes" but my story is not within the first 50 pages.
Google has taken steps to subvert information that casts doubt on the accuracy of information the Government and the Media is telling the public about Syria.
That is the power of Google. It can filter information you receive by downgrading web sites they do not want you to visit in search result, and placing web pages they prefer in the top of your search results. When you control the flow of information, you are in a perfect position to control the minds of the people receiving the information. This is a perfect example of why as a society we can not allow the other less popular search engines die.
"Googlegate" something new to investigate.
My story may not be well written but the information is worth considering if only to cause a moments pause in reflection when you the reader consider world events and the news that you read.
