Suicide Blast in Sri Lanka Kills 14

A suicide bomber killed 14 people at an opening ceremony for a marathon Sunday, including a government minister who was nearing the starting line with a flag and a former Olympian. More than 90 others were wounded in the attack.

On Monday, Sri Lankan air force jets destroyed a base used to train Black Tigers, the Tamil Tiger rebel group's suicide fighters, in their stronghold of Mankulam, said a defense ministry official. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

Among the victims in Sunday's suicide bombing were a government minister who was supposed to start the race and a former Olympian.
